I think a major corporation like NBC Universal will have a good team of lawyers on retainer
Universal Reddit calls BS on this guy. The reports appear to all be from the same guy and he is widely panned as making stuff up for attention and clicks.
Possibly. But lawyers need to be paid. So it feels like the motive is money or justice. We shall see
Yeah, that’s the sad side of social media. Truth be damned
Agree - the feeling on those threads is so widely that this is the case, I am inclined to take their word. I think it is because he apparently, in every interview, accuses Universal of “taking his phone” as if they did it to keep him from showing what he saw, when the phone was simply in the locker.
Someone else has filed a lawsuit against Universal. She is claiming SDR also injured her. My head bangs around in RRC too. So I don’t ride it anymore ![]()
I don’t like this.

Same.
I feel so bad for his family. I’m surprised there isn’t a better chest restraint.
I am wondering if front row was also a factor?
Yes, the theory is he passed out and hunched over really far to hit one of these:
Looking at a view from the direct side, you would think its nearly impossible to bend that far. ![]()
The ride photo they are showing appears to show him in the very front row of that set of cars I also did not know (has it been included in other info) that his girlfriend was with him and sitting next to him.
Yes, some news said early on his girlfriend was next to him.
I agree that the over the head lap bar which is more uncomfortable and doesn’t provide as free moving of a ride (like letting you get the air time) would probably have prevented that. I think the lawyer could argue that the design of the coaster is at fault and not safe. Then does that come back to the coaster designer or Universal since they agreed to that design ultimately being at fault. Also, thinking they’ll redo the cars which means no rides for us for a bit until that can be done.
*And yes heartbreaking for his family. It hurts like h%ll to lose a young close family member and that hurt doesn’t go away. It’s just life from then on. Really breaks my heart when anyone has to know what that feels like.
It does seem that way. I wonder if it’s trauma to the back of the head vs the front. I haven’t seen reports one way or the other. In the ride videos everyone seems to be holding onto the lap bar to keep them upright. If you aren’t able to do that I can imagine you would be bumped and banged around. I’ve been avoiding any spoiler videos. But looking at the recent video posted the restraints do look a little lacking. I was imaging a system closer to RRC not BTMR.
I had to stop riding RRR two years ago. I could not stop my head from banging, I stopped the hulk at the same time. My son (33) stopped riding the Hulk last year after a similar experience. We both had ridden these coasters more times than I can count.
Yes they bang my head around too but more of a side to side than a front to back.
Also, I will always wait 15-20 min more for front row as that alleviates some of the head shaking. One of the things I prefer about universal to disney is that I can do this. Even on RRR I would ask for it every single time and tell them I was willing to wait for it so I might wait one extra ride.
It does but, at least up close, that lap bar on RRR looks more substantial and falls higher up on the torso. That could make some difference. As for the others, they look similar. I wonder what the difference is. I’m not the biggest thrill ride enthusiast to know this answer.
Reports are coming out stardust will reopen tomorrow afternoon. Expect afternoon ops for awhile as they restaff the attraction.
Wow! Just checked and it’s been a little over two weeks since the incident. I’m guessing they thought that felt like enough time after the investigation to signal caution and sensitivity to the family while assuring the ride is safe.
