I was listening to the latest Disney Dish and they mentioned potential soft openings in April. We’ll be there mid April for a cheer competition for my daughter (yep, I’m gonna be part of one of those dreaded groups ) and I’m wondering if we might get the opportunity to check Epic out.
What do soft openings usually look like? How do they work?
My family will all have APs (the seasonal one, which is blocked out most of April), though mine has just expired. Should I renew? I don’t have any other trips planned and we were planning to use the tickets through the event. Are the soft openings usually for select groups (like APs)?
There are no details about what “groups” are going to be eligible. I do follow a few TMs and they are saying they get to go for a preview this month!
When they’ve done “soft openings” for rides like VelociCoaster it was for APs on one date and then an unannounced day for anyone that happened to be there…
These soft openings may one be for a specific date(s) or maybe a short period of time…
If you decide to renew your start date isn’t until the first day you use it, not the purchase date. So, you do have some flexibility
IMHO, I would doubt they’d do a soft opening during a time when there will be a large convention and/or around Easter. (I’m assuming this is a big event from your description)
Also, I’m wagering it’ll be in early May before schools get out for summer. I’m only guessing though.
If you renew, and pay in full with the discount, your pass will expire the same day of the year as your old one. If you get a new one, the clock doesn’t start until you use it at the parks.
Oooo this gets me excited. My company is doing an event in Orlando from May 6-9 and I was like if only it were a couple of weeks later. I volunteered of course to man a booth and I wrote a couple of papers for possible demos cuz either way a free plane ticket and hotel room and some food covered makes me happy in WDW lol
But post if APs get in cuz then I’m buying one. Lol
Hard to believe they will be ready for soft openings any time soon. The most recent video on latest progress shows there is still a LOT of work left to get done as far as finishing touches, including areas without even concrete yet.
Rides are operational though. So maybe they will get it all together soon enough.
The week you were in FL was too chilly for standard concrete but likely they’re using plenty of additives.
Still, Epic has come together rather . . . . epically
