It looks like my daughter’s cheer team is getting a bid to compete in Orlando (Universal) the week leading up to Easter. How crazy is Easter at Disney? Should we stay at Universal through the weekend, then switch over? Maybe switch on Easter?
How long after Easter are the eggs up for display at the resorts?
I’ve never been during Easter but wanted to say congrats to your daughter! What a fun opportunity for her.
I can say I’ve been during spring break before and it was busy but not horrible. Certainly doable with decent planning. I’ve read that because Easter falls late this year and doesn’t coincide with a lot of spring break period that may disperse the crowds a bit but not sure about actual Easter week/weekend.
The last day of competition is Friday, so after more thought, I think it would definitely be Sunday or Monday before we move to Disney. I’m hoping Universal will be less crazy, but even it is crazy, we’ll have Express Passes.
Anyone know how long I’ll be able to see the awesome eggs they display at Disney? Will they still be around the week after Easter?
We went the week before Easter last year, leaving on Easter Monday. It was definitely busy, but I don’t think we ever found the crowds oppressive. I think they were worse during one of our trips that fell over President’s Day weekend! We did make use of early entry and G+, and we often took a break/had a late lunch/did shows in the afternoons when crowds were likely at their highest. We were in MK on Easter Sunday (which also happened to be my DD’s 10th bday) and I remember we got so much done that day. And the little easter parade was actually very cute. I think it was one of our favourite days ever at Disney!
I’m happy to hear this. We are going next year over Spring Break (week of Easter) and I’m terrified. We’ve never gonna during high crowds. Of it’s not as bad Thanksgiving or Christmas I’ll be happy.
I think it depends when Easter falls as well. Last year Easter was March 31st and I was worried crowds would be really bad since we’d be smack in the middle of spring break crowds along with those whose spring break follows Easter (like us), but it was generally fine. Like I said it was definitiely busy, but we had the best trip! And the weather was lovely!
