It’s hit or miss. But if the rain isn’t weather system moving through related (which is unpredictable), the rain is more likely in the afternoons once the atmosphere heats up. I do think it rains more late July and August than later June. The humidity is also slightly better in late June. Could you have a shower every day in late June? Yes. Is that likely for EVERY day? No. But a rain shower in the afternoons should be planned for. It also cools things off just a bit.
Here are a couple of charts that show the trend line since it can vary depending on what part of the month you are traveling.
That’s actually when we went. 4th weekend was dead.
You should expect a FL shower for the most part which often means a pop storm that can come out of nowhere and could last 5-15 minutes. Most of the rain is heavy but brief so pop into a shop and wait it out.
Thank you for these charts!
We were there week after Easter 2024, weather was perfect, crowds were 9-10/10 but we did just fine with LL (stacking for late entry, we never did rope drop with the previous version) and later hours. Had a fabulous time. We also went the week of the Fourth of July and while seeing the July 4 fireworks was fun, the heat was unbearable. After 2-3 days, my kids just wanted to sit in the hotel room in the AC. I would pick April over July, absolutely.
Last year we went during Spring Break in March and I also went in July - got there on the fourth actually. March was with my parents and my kids and in July I went solo. The prior trip we had taken with my kids was in August and they remarked multiple times how nice it was to have milder weather vs. suffering in the unescapable heat. I had a great time in July but am ok with dealing with the heat. It’s much easier to do when you just have to listen to yourself complain about it in your head vs. trying to keep your kids/family happy and hydrated.
I’d say you can have a wonderful trip at either time but the way I tour and plan our park days is very different with milder weather vs. summertime humidity and heat. When it isn’t as hot it’s easier to take it easy getting to the parks, show up around lunchtime, and stay the rest of the day. In July, the heat makes it very difficult to do this and I feel like we have to get up and going very early, take mid-day breaks, and then go back in the evening when the sun is a bit lower in the sky.
From a crowd standpoint, it was super busy last year during Spring Break but there are always easy ways to escape the crowds when you need to.
We tried out August for the first time in 2023 because we wanted a time with lower crowds and the kids are too old to miss a week of school. The heat was oppressive; I won’t sugarcoat it but we handled it fine, i.e. we took afternoon breaks in a/c attractions or went back to the resort. But we also prefer being hot in Disney rather than cold. I recall one afternoon that we got caught in a downpour but otherwise rain was minimal. The best part was the lower crowds. We’re going back in late July into early August this year to accommodate my niece’s cheer practice schedule so hoping the crowds aren’t much higher. I think hotter weather is a good tradeoff for lower crowds but obviously everyone’s preference is different. If you’ve been over Easter break, I think you’re going to enjoy the lower crowds of summer.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Did you use lightening lanes? I’m wondering if the wait times are more manageable (as opposed to Easter week) and maybe we won’t feel the need to buy LLMP.
Thanks for sharing your experience! We’re going to be at the parks Easter week this year and I’m eager and anxious to see how LLMP works!
I appreciate your feedback considering you’ve tried both Easter & summer! As a previous person said, I guess we won’t know if we can handle the heat until we give it a try. I totally agree that changing our normal plan will need to happen if we try the summertime.
Please shared your experience.
You will learn to cut through every gift shop possible. Definitely walk through the entire Emporium on Main Street.
We did buy LL most days, including SP for GOTG & Tron. While we’re seasoned WDW visitors & probably would have been fine without it, we like to get a lot done. We’re on an every
other year visitation schedule &
like to do all the things. Plus the heat could cause a little grumpiness so the time saved allowed for longer breaks.
Agreed. The heat makes the tolerance for lines even less. It’s still worth it.
Genius! Thanks for the tip!
