We are going to WDW the first week of March. This will be the first time using LLMP, which we will be using at the MK on a Monday and Epcot on a Thursday. We have been keeping up with the LLMP prices and were really surprised to see that on the Monday, March 3 the price of LLMP is at the maximum of $39 per person. The TouringPlans crowd calendar has that Monday as a 6 at the MK. We were really surprised at the cost of the LLMP and are now really concerned about the crowd size. Any ideas?
Are you asking ideas to manage crowds? Or ideas as to why the LLMP costs that much? Or reasons that crowds will be so high?
Crowds are the (not-so-) new normal at Disney. It is pretty rare to find low crowds, even when you are trying! (Not that you can’t…just mean, you should EXPECT higher crowds.)
With the use of LLMP, I also think predictions as to CLs is harder to estimate, because standby wait times go up as a result of more people paying for LLMP, which makes the CLs possibly artificially higher.
Go into the trip with realistic expectations, and take advantage of the LLMP as best you can…since you are paying a pretty penny for it!
I was trying to figure out possible crowd sizes. I saw the horrendous crowds during the last week of December when the LLMP passes were at this price and am afraid that crowds will be insane. But the LLMP prices drop considerably later in the week.
That’s always the busiest time of the entire year, so no surprise there!
Hard to say for sure why Disney prices they way they do, other than…they will price it to benefit themselves the most. If they can get away with charging more, they will. It kind of becomes self-fulfilling. If it costs more, people are afraid of higher crowds, and so are more likely to pay for it!
Anyhow, March 3rd, there is an After Hours event at Magic Kingdom, so maybe Disney know that drives crowds or in the very least drives people to be willing to pay more? Not sure.
The only suggestion I have, other than have a good plan, is perhaps look at re-arranging your days…but a difference of 1 or 2 in a CL will have negligible difference. But you might find you can save money on LLMP by buying it for another day instead.
I like to use TP crowd calendars along with a mix of other resources like ThrillGeek, Undercover Tourist, Orlando Informer…
I have checked all of these crowd calendars for the first week of March. They all say it will be “average” / “medium” crowds that week.
It’s not going to be like that, but March is the beginning of spring break “season.” Since not all school districts get off at the same time, March through April will be busier in general. I think the high LMPP price is to capture more revenue from those infrequent travelers.
First week of March 2025 is Mardi Gras…everyone from Louisiana will be at Disney, including my son’s high school band with about 180 students, they will be in Epcot Tuesday 3/4 and MK Wednesday 3/5 and will march in MK just before the afternoon parade.
The band jumps to Universal Thursday and Friday.
But expect heavy Louisiana crowds the whole week at both Disney and Universal.
I wouldn’t worry. LLMP price correlate with crowds, but not exactly. TP and thrilldata have charts bearing this out. I’d trust TP’s crowd calendar more than I’d trust LLMP price as a measure of crowds.
My theory is LLMP price is linked to what Disney thinks we think the crowd size will be, i.e. they charge what the market will bear.
That is never a level 6. 6 is very manageable. Don’t be scared by the number. While Disney does price things higher at peak times it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have peak prices at less than peak times- if that makes sense.
Touring plans crowd calendars is a metric for wait times at the most popular attractions. I have been that week twice. Epcot can get a little crowded on the weekends due to Flower and Garden. Also, this year it lines up with Mardi Gras. You will have a lot of southerners descending on Disney- mostly families.
everyone but me
And if you see a group wearing black and gold just holler, “Who Dat”. You’ll fit right in.
With LLMP and LLPP selling out, I would not be surprised to see even higher prices.
We have planned this week in order to celebrate Mardi Gras at PO-FQ. We have done this three times in the past and are really looking forward to the week. We have met a bunch of people from Louisiana on previous trips and understand that there will be many people from Louisiana, Mississippi, and even Alabama who are on Mardi Gras spring break. I have shared Abitas and hurricanes with them at Mardi Grogs and Muddy Rivers pool bars, but I can’t do the “Who Dat?” yell being an Atlanta Falcon fan from just south of ATL.
Maybe keep that to yourself
Converted fan, but I know what you mean.
