Day 6 Morning:

  • Didnt have any thing planned for the morning. Family vote was HS.
  • Caught the 8:10 boat. Cleared security at 8:30. Jedi Training signup by 8:35 for the 11 am show
  • Crossed back through the TSL crowd and got in line for ToT at 8:45. Got same spot on the road as day 1
  • Crowd released at 8:55. Out of ToT at 9:20
  • Got to RnR for stand by. 50 minute wait repeatedly but the queue was not moving. Asked someone on the upper level how long they had been there. 20 mins. We left after 3 mins.
  • We got to walk on to star tours. Went back for a second ride and the crowd from the Jedi training academy had gotten there first. Took 30 mins to complete ride and wait. We got the same story all three times we rode Star Tours on the trip, but with different holograms in the middle and 2 different endings. Isn’t there supposed to be a bunch of different action scenes?
  • DS7 and DS9 were pumped after doing Jedi training. Tip: There is a fan by the spot where the kids enter. Might not be the best viewing spot, but it is the coolest.
  • DS7 really wanted Woodys lunch box because of the baby bell chairs. Crowds seemed high. Lucked into a Frozone encounter on the way there.
  • Noticeable increase in rainbow ears over the last two days. Kids helpfully suggest that there must be some sort of club visiting.

Day 6 MNSSHP:

  • Didn’t really love it. Would not do it again. Sort of regretted the decision to go. I can come up with better ways to spend the time and money.
  • Arrived at park at 3:30. 2000-3000 people camped outside with party only tickets. Tight squeeze to find gate for park hopper people
  • Hit first 2 fast passes with precision. Space ranger spin, Space mountain. Went to fantasy land because the wrist band line was long on tomorrow land. 20 minute wait to get wrist bands near Philharmonic. Seemed like there were line cutters for wrist bands. Trick or treat bag included some rare candies, like brithday cake three musketeers.
  • Crowds getting thick. Could be my imagination, but seems like there are more “immobiles” on scooters than a usual day. Streets feel like CL8 by 5pm
  • Hit 7DMT, scored Tea Cups FP4. Then things started to go off the rails.
  • Internet advice was to hit key character greets early. This didn’t work out. 5:35 DW sat in 7D line while I hit Barnstormer with boys. Line started entering tent at 6. We got off just in time to join her. Dwarfs came out at 6:10. Ate candy to avoid hangry kids. We got out picture taken at 7:40. Line was probably down to 40 minutes at that time
  • Starving we went to cosmic rays just in time to hit a dinner rush. No online ordering, which is something we had been using to good effect on past days. 20 mins to get food. Cleanup staff was overwhelmed. Tables dirty. Topping bar was a disaster area. Lotso burger and the Mickey burger were kind of disgusting.
  • Hit two candy spots. Second line got jammed by a pair of 400 lb scooter people who ate themselves immobile earlier in this life and felt no need to stop once they replaced their legs
  • Passed the “step sisters” that were talking trash about Cindy. DW’s favorite thing of the night.
  • Crowd level in the streets seems like a 9 and it was dark. Got a spot by the stockades for the parade. Rain delayed. We bolt for the Haunted Mansion just to do something. Entrance traffic jam of 3 immobiles trying to turn around once they realized that they could not take scooters in. 30 posted wait was more like 15. Ride broke down by the ghostly dancers which is my favorite spot. That was my highlight. Got to count & rank all the ghosts with DS7.
  • Watched the fireworks show in high crowds. It was a nice show. We were next to someone who was trying to video the whole thing with his flash on. He was mostly getting the back of some guy who was trying to video the whole thing with his camera over his head. Other than that silliness, the crowds were courteous.
  • Crowd ran to Space mountain afterwards, which was the only thing DS7 wanted. 30 minute wait was a 30 wait. Trust fund kids still had fast passes. Immobiles also got to bypass queue. Extra theming was no lights, odd music, which was a nice change of pace, nothing special though
  • Caught parade near park exit. DS7 becomes unconscious, no stroller. Heavy burden, lotsa drool down my collar. Crowds were not bad for the second parade.
  • Parade arrived at 12. Definitely had the first string performers out for the party. Everyone looked good.
  • Rush to the bus. Late arrival Immobiles were loaded first, took 15 mins to get them on, driver was having issues. Fortunately they can only take 2 immobiles per bus ride, so regular people were let on. Standing room only holding DS7. Got home late and sore.

I’m sorry you had a frustrating night, but some of your notes made me laugh. Scooter people who ate themselves immobile

Day 7 - Hit the wall

  • Skipped Typhoon Lagoon because DW and I were beat after Halloween Party. DS9 was in tears. I was in tears because I didn’t get good value from the plus on the park hopper. Hung out at hotel pool. Much more relaxing than a crowded weekend water park.
  • Rescheduled meals. Did late lunch at Sanaa. Took Lyft to save time. Saw car with plates that read “STARWRS” as we left.
  • Sanaa was very very good. Lots of strong flavors. Animal views a plus. Kids loved the paint your own cookie dessert. Couldn’t cancel Rainforest Cafe reservation the day of, so we just stopped in the bar for a drink when we got to AK. Seems to have satisfied our reservation requirements.
  • Kids decide they will work on Wilderness explorer badges using partially completed books from 2017. WE guide at discovery island pulled out rolls of old stickers to help us fill in badges they dont offer any more. Got a bunch done by 7pm. WE guides disappeared promptly at 7. Maybe we will finish in 2021.
  • Talked to a cast member about the Friday SWGE preview while untangling Jedi Training photos at AK photo hut. “It’s great, but I might wait a couple years before going if I had to pay.”
  • Did sunset Safari. Didn’t get to see the big fake sunset. Maybe they dont do that any more?
  • Pulled a weird seat on FOP again. I was in A1 two days earlier for my first ride, top left. Some of the 3D didn’t work so well for me there & I could easily see the racks of people if I turned my head. This time was D13. 3D was better except for the cave scene. I like FOP but it isn’t a roller coaster.
  • DS9 was begging for Satuli Canteen. Very good quick serve but Blueberry mousse weirded out DW. Unsure how well the Pandora night effects will age.
  • DW wants to scrap FP for FOP tomorrow and wants to rope drop HS instead. Flight got moved up to 3pm, so the HS emh time works better so I’m ok with it.
  • Hotel front desk kindly prints out our boarding passes. Disney’s computers won’t authorize a 12pm checkout.

Day 8 - Homeward bound

  • Pack like mad at 6am. Last two QS buy a pile of Mickey waffles.
  • We get to HS about 2 minutes after rope drop. Custom touring plans have frequently over estimated how much we can do at RD on this trip and today is no different. We get RnR x2 and ToT done in 90 minutes which is all that we wanted, but touring plans thought we could do it in 60 mins. Has RD lost some of its magic or is HS more crowded with AP people for SWEG than expected?
  • Stop at boardwalk for Al Forno character breakfast. $162 for two adults, two kids. Glad we had a round of TS credits to use up. Really liked the meal, interactions, decor. The “batch“ table service process that they did was efficient.
  • Caught the 12:20 ME instead of the recommended 11:50. Got to airport at 1:15 with plenty of time.

Reviewing my trip report, I think I may have been a little hard on the “immobiles” during the MNSSHP. WDW should be for everyone, kids, parents, grand parent, millennials. But I got frustrated.

When the candy line gets clogged for 60 seconds because a couple on scooters was too wide to get between the the candy handout people at mickey’s philharmonic, it was humorously ironic.

It was aggravating when a scooter rams your kid in a crowd, but my kids can have their head in the clouds. Some days it seems like they get rammed by park benches.

It was miserable when I had to wait an extra 15 minutes to depart MK at 12:30 am while they loaded scooters that showed up after I got in line while I’m holding a sleeping child. Much of that delay was on the bus driver. She was probably tired. She was certainly having issues. Shouldn’t have taken that long to load them & after a few minutes, re-reinforcements from the transportation crew showed up to help her get things moving. It was extra miserable on the ride home when I had to stand holding a child, but I may not have gotten a seat even if the scooters were not taking up three seats a piece.

Earlier that night, I was irritated by something I saw at 7DMT before the party started. We just passed the standby / fp merge when a well dressed woman on a scooter gets escorted to the front of the line. She hops off her scooter and into a seat by herself on the attraction while her assistant takes her standard poodle service dog to the exit. I was blaming the scooter, but in hindsight, she had probably had purchased a VIP day, so she was going to get up to the front of the line, scooter or not. At least they didn’t sit her in the front row!
