Does Disney have a weather problem?

I have noticed this 100% on our last few trips.
We lucked out last July because our week wasn’t ghastly hot. But in reading recent trip reports, I am wondering if we are going to survive this July.

Back when we were on our honeymoon in July/August 1996 WDW did have misters EVERYWHERE. We knew it was going to be hot but I distinctly remember us commenting on the misters as being so helpful. We noticed the LACK of them in June 2021 (our first time back since our honeymoon) and we managed barely.

Obviously we were older (and heavier) but it was MUCH worse than in 1996. Climate change is definitely at play here. But we came from Wisconsin both times and we have never been “outdoor” people even when we were younger so I don’t think where you come from has a lot to do with it.

In 2021 we were expecting misters but due to everyone here and on FB we knew to bring personal fans and cooling towels etc. things we did’t even consider in 1996. We now will not go in June, July or August and April/May is iffy.

Now that you say that, I think I remember those misters too back then! Maybe that’s why it didn’t feel as hot.

We Brits love it! It’s been in the low-mid 50s here. When we go on holiday we want it to be hot!! We (my family not all Brits, though most with school age children) always go in July/August and I can’t say we find it too hot.

That’s great! I know last year we were there the 3rd full week of August and it seemed about half the guests were international with a lot of them being British! The year before there were definitely a lot of international visitors at the same time but 2023 was much more. I figured maybe more were able to come after Covid? My SIL has been living in Germany for 3 years and they always have August as a summer break (and they come home to US), so I wondered if Britain is similar.

Yes, England and Wales are usually off for 5-6 weeks from late July to early Sept. Scotland are off all July but not sure when they go back, mid Aug maybe.

My understanding after looking at historical data is that the HIGHS in Orlando are pretty much staying around the same, but the lows don’t go as low, which raises the average daily. But it does mean it isn’t actually hotter as far as highs go, on average.

You can actually find some record highs for certain days that go all the way back to the 1930s.

I think there are multiple factors at play, including as mentioned, Disney’s own mitigation efforts. Another factor is that we now spend many more days at Disney, generally, due to more parks and more to do. The first two parks, almost every line was inside.

So true and newer lands like Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge do us no favors when it comes to places to hide from the heat!

So true. I was at WDW a few times in July/August during the 80s and 90s and it was extremely hot and humid. The way some people talk, it was 85 degrees with a cool breeze back then … nope.
