Disneyland officially re-opens on April 30

Disney CEO Bob Chapek has just announced that Disneyland will be reopening on April 30th. The Disneyland resort theme parks were shut down last March for COVID-19 and have not reopened since.

According to new state guidance, only California residents will be permitted to visit and capacity will be limited to somewhere between 15% and 35% based on what COVID-19 recovery tier Orange County is in.

Bummer about the limitations right now, but it’s a start!!

If you want to see “official” announcement. (I think BlogMickey just copied & pasted it anyway- btw)

I have tickets burning a hole in my virtual wallet and am ready to go!!!:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

From the Blog

To enter a park, both a park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Theme park reservations will be limited and subject to availability and, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks in line with current state guidelines. More details about this new reservation system will be available soon.

In the days leading up to the public opening on April 30, Disneyland Resort will invite cast members and members of the local community to be the first theme park guests after more than a year of closure. A Touch of Disney , the limited-time ticketed experience which has sold out, will go on as planned from March 18 through April 19.

As Len and Jim discussed on the Disney Dish Podcast, DL had to wait for the new Touch of Disney Event to be completed before the real re-opening could begin,

It wasn’t clear if you are going to need a Park Reservation for Disneyland “as a whole entity” or if you have to do one for each part (DLR/DCA)

If you think a DHS park reservations is hard to get now, imagine trying to get just a single DLR ressie!

Look like I’ll go start making “fake” TPs for a May trip!

I’m excited to see people back at the park again! Even if I can’t go, it’s so great for cast members and local guests.

But I’m eagerly awaiting some kind of adjustment to the guidance so we can have a better idea when out-of-state visitors can come.

I wonder if it will be worth it to get that trailer you were looking at

If I weren’t going to WDW in 60-ish days I would be thinking about it much more seriously! :joy:

I am looking forward to Steakhouse 55 opening with the Classic Afternoon Tea  Hopefully that will be soon.

Here are the latest guidelines on reopening (article from yesterday):

  1. Indoor rides must be less than 15 minutes (PotC is just below that, I think. What is longer? GMwML?)
  2. All queues must be outdoors (how do they handle Space Mountain? At least the part of the queue where boarding happens will have to be indoors)
  3. Riders must be 6 ft apart from other parties and should be in the same vehicle as their party if possible
  4. A party can only represent 3 households max and must prove residency in CA when purchasing tickets
  5. CMs who are in a performance don’t have to wear masks if not feasible, but if not, have to maintain 6ft distancing and be tested 2x/week
