Disneyland Fire 4/22/23

Maleficent the dragon caught fire during Fantasmic at Disneyland last night. Thankfully no injuries reported

How awful!
I’m glad noone was hurt.

Welp…that certainly makes planning easier.

It sounds like it was contained to that one small area. So maybe it will be fixed before you were planning to go? Fantasmic is a prime show so hopefully they will prioritize it.

Of course it’s occurring to me as I type that there will have to be an investigation into what caused it and all that red tape will probably slow things down :frowning:

I was just glad to read that initial reports are nobody was injured and it didn’t spread to other areas. Could you even imagine?!

Yup, given how long it took for the Maleficent float to come back online at WDW, I’m not expecting it to be anytime soon. I don’t expect it back until Christmas at the earliest.

oh that goes without saying.

I’m not sure I’ve ever looked at a fire and thought “hopefully someone got burnt up something good!”

Unless it involved Gary.

I mean Gary for sure would say that

Why do we still let him around here?

We don’t know. But @Randall1028 hates him. A lot.

Just go with it.

Oh man, my kids love Murphy & call her that whenever we talk about the show. This’ll be tough when they find out & I’m hoping at least 2-3 of them never see the footage because they have history of bad dreams involving fires and seeing a beloved part of their park experience in flames is going to be upsetting at least if not nightmare-inducing.

Did Gary have anything to do with it?

I dunno, I doubt it, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

I’m sure this could be terrifying for guests to see. It would be impossible to know no one was hurt until later. I’m honestly surprised this doesn’t happen more often — it’s real fire and despite all the controls, there is an inherent risk that something could go wrong.

Walt Disney World will suspend some fire effects following fire at Fantasmic! in Disneyland (wdwmagic.com)

I was even there last night but left before F! What a spectacle. I’m surprised, but so happy, no one was hurt. That would’ve been horrific. I’m even wondering if they will remove Murphy forever. I hope not, but I’m sure Disney is not liking the press about this. They did seem to handle it well, getting all the guests away. My son is disappointed he won’t be able to see F! in 12 days, when he’s there.
