We’ve had great luck at the Best Western Park Place Inn as well -literally across the street. We Uber to and from the airport.

My DS13 absolutely loves Petersen Auto Museum (https://www.petersen.org), which can be easily paired with a tar pits visit (which DS13 also loved).
