Disney Springs Buses Checking for Reservations Before Loading

But what about the point made above about buses not running till after 10am? Budget vacationers seem to overlap with rope droppers.

As this conversation has played out various scenarios, I’m beginning to this this change won’t really make much difference whatsoever.

Which makes me wonder what is TRULY the motivating factor. None, so far, seem terribly compelling to justify Disney now wanting to monitor this. But…what do I know?

The one anecdote I will share, however, which I’ve shared before in other contexts, does play a small part.

A few years ago, we were staying at Universal, but drove to Disney Springs with the family because, well, we just really like the DS vibe. While we were there, we decided to take the Friendship Boat to POR to show the family the place where my wife and I honeymooned. We walked around a bit…but when it was time to head back, the boats were shut down (it was a clear day for us, but apparently there was lightning in the area?).

So, they started redirecting everyone who wanted to go to DS to the buses. Only, they didn’t communicate this well, and there were probably 100+ people now waiting for a bus to go to DS. But every bus that arrived was already completely full. It took 1 1/2 hours before we finally got on a bus (and we were toward the front of the line).

I share this only to say that it doesn’t take much to suddenly throw Disney’s capacity balance into chaos.

And we usually are also big on saving time, too.

These is no clear reason IMO

My thought was that this is to temper capacity at the resorts, not really DS parking like has been speculated. They have done a lot of work to clamp down on lookie-loos at the resorts with no ā€œbusinessā€ there. But good old Tik Tok (etc.) has definitely been spreading the idea of using DS to access parks/resorts.

DS buses are already painful enough for those of us staying there in terms of wait times. They don’t come super often in my experience. I’ve never actually been on a jammed one but we usually drive to DS.
