Disney Golf

We are going to Disney in July :sun_with_face:
My husband and son enjoy golfing. They’ve never mentioned going while at Disney, but I was curious what it’s like. We will likely have a car. Are the courses easy to get to? Is one better than the others? I’m wondering if it’s a special enough experience for golfers that makes it worth giving up park time, or is it just like another round of golf?
Thanks!

It. Is. Awesome!

We did LBV in April last year loved it!

We had a car during our stay and we drove directly to Saratoga Springs. It was very easy. We checked in at the guard gate and they directed us to parking for the pro shop.

We rented clubs and they came with everything we needed; we did get extra balls because just in case  And we were able to get a snack and a beverage as well, which were included. They set everything up in the golf cart for you and off you go!

I don’t know if it’s a lot different from any round of golf except that YOU’RE GOLFING AT WALT DISNEY WORLD and that’s pretty awesome!

Here’s a link to my post about our evening on the links:

I thought I was more posty about it but I guess not.

It’s expensive. It does require a time commitment. But if your family is dreaming of it, it’s well worth it - particularly on a longer trip where the resource of time is not quite so limited.

LMK if you have specific questions!

I remember that you enjoyed it from your trip report! You are the only person I ever remember talking about it. We have a 7 night 6 park day trip in mind, but we could add an extra day if needed. I think it would be a great experience for them! Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m going to go reread it now!

I take my son every time we go. We usually stay at Polynesian or Grand Floridian so there are a few choices across the street. We’ve only golfed the walkable 9 hole, but I have golfed all of the Disney courses over the years. If you’ve done the parks before and the new rides, playing 9 holes or a full round is a great break from the park craziness. The 9 hole course used to be free with the park hopper water park add on. I assume it still is. Go enjoy some golf and take in the wild life of Disney (gators, deer, snakes, turkeys).

There’s not a lot of words in the post LOL But I can answer questions you might have.

I forgot to say that we did do the sunset timeframe, which is less expensive (sunrise and sunset are discounted)

And that there are loads of DisneyGolf items in the proshop for souvenirs, or if you are in need of something.

The course is - as most things with Disney - well maintained and absolutely beautiful. And challenging enough for someone like my husband who plays all the time but not overly so for a baby golfer like me. I think the other courses are tougher.

Thanks! My son was on the golf team in high school, but he’s not pro quality or anything so that would be perfect :joy:

We just got back from Florida (not Disney) and he saw gators on every course that he golfed.

One thing to add that I don’t think has been mentioned - if you are staying on Disney property, they will give you transportation vouchers for golf. So if them having the car is inconvenient they won’t have to pay for Uber or anything. My husband used voucher to go from FW to SSR to play and then from SSR to MK to meet me. They will also transport clubs as long as there is a full 24 hours to do it. So he didn’t have to take his clubs.

Most recently he moved his own clubs around. So admittedly we haven’t had them move clubs around since pre COVID - so maybe worth a double check with them that they still do that if it’s something that would be helpful for you.

It’s been many years, but I’ve “played” at least half the courses. I put it in parenthesis because my ex was the golfer. Me, not so much, but I try. They provide transportation. The courses are gorgeous and well maintained. Lots of deer, wild turkeys and … snakes. We were “ family of the day” once. Escorted to the first hole in a Mickey golf cart. It was amazing how they made the course feel so Disney.

Our son in law used the travel voucher which at that time was a taxi. Might have been 2006. He was the lone golfer in our family so got placed with 3 others at the course. I think 3 other singles.

He had checked his clubs for the flight to MCO. Of course they didn’t show up until a couple days later. We had booked his tee time for our 4th day in the World so he had his clubs.

oooh I didn’t know anything about the transportation vouchers. Good to know. I had to flag down a cab going by to give us a ride about a quarter of a mile to Grand Floridian. My son was 7 at the time and completely melting from walking the course then walking back to the hotel. I can’t wait to tell him that we could have had a free ride. The great part of the story is the cab driver didn’t even charge us. Just a kind soul taking pity on us.

That’s really fun! I didn’t realize that they would do things like that.

Someone else went golfing in a relatively recent trip report… but I don’t remember who!

I hope they enjoyed it, but my two won’t be doing it! My husband just said he’s not wanting to give up park time for the golf course. He also mentioned that he didn’t think he could golf well without his own clubs, so there’s that too :joy:

Thanks for all of the help and tips, everybody!
