Disney Discount? No to me, is it worth complaining that they might do something?

You’re smart! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We learned on our last trip that preferred only relates to how close it is to the lobby, not the skyliner. So there are some great standard rooms, right next to the skyliner. Standard innBuilding 5 puts you right by the skyliner and very close to the pool bar with the refill stations.

I have terrible luck with Pop room requests. But I know so many people who have good luck asking at the front desk.

This is so funny, I hate 4th floor because I won’t take the steps when I am that high up and getting to the elevators is extra steps often. Unless I am building 6 or 7, I like ground (ground on those buildings can be noisy).

I ask for building 3, facing building 4. That is my perfect location. But the back side of building 5 isn’t bad either.

I usually get my request at Pop but I make very broad requests in the “additional text” box. I will state something like “While I don’t have a specific room request, I would like any room in building 4, 5 or 6 so that I can be close to the skyliner. Being close to the skyliner is my priority” My last 9 rooms have been in one of those buildings so my request has been met.

I think many people get so caught up in wanting a specific room that the likelihood of getting that exact room is slim. I find that people who make more broad requests are more successful. If you state why you want a specific room (ex to be close to the skyliner or close to the lobby) you may be more successful.

This is me. My room requests were met when I have deleted the specific room info. When I use the TP language and add additional request info, it seemed to be more hit or miss.

I always delete the TP language. I think it is confusing and overly specific. I then fill in with priority order requests.

I can’t say how effective it has been, though. Not done it enough to be sure.

Our requests at SSR have been successful. For example, once I put that top priority was being in Congress Park. That was achieved. Could have been luck. Another time, we did a standard instead of preferred, and so I requested being in a room closest to Disney Springs. Again, that’s what we got.

For our upcoming trip, we’ll see how our ASMu request fares. For BWV, I just used the Disney request, because being close to the elevator/lobby is really our number one priority and their form specifically allowed that request.

That is always up in the air due to airline dependability, but hopefully around lunchtime so we can take a little advantage of the free arrival water park day

That’s a great time to get there. If you don’t like your room assignment make sure to head to the front desk right away. There is usually CMs with a tablet. I always use language like- I was hoping to get a room closer to x or in x section. I know we’ve arrived early but I’m willing to wait for a room if there is one available in/ by (x). I’ve never had that fail. The later you arrive the more rooms that have already been allocated to guest checking in. One person can check in luggage with bell service (don’t give a room number yet) and the other can hop to the counter. Saves time.
Typhoon Lagoon will be open in August. My suggestion is to ride share there unless there is direct bus access. You can look on the board or ask the front desk. If there is no direct bus service you will have to go to Disney Springs first. It’s a time killer!

You could look at the discount as play money to make up for not having the preferred room.

For example, you could entirely skip the soda cups and have a grocery delivery of sodas scheduled for when you arrive. Could even include a Styrofoam cooler in the order since the fridges aren’t.

Then for the room request try to get as close to preferred transportation as possible.

We like to stay in standard rooms at Pop, and have had nice rooms with successful requests via TP.
We ask for the standard rooms in the 60’s that have partial lake view. They are super close to the skyliner, and a pretty short walk to the main building. Our last trip, we could look just outside our room and see the length of the skyliner line in the morning
