We’re planning a trip to WDW in May and we’ve decided to bring DW’s parents with us. The tricky part I just learned that the DAS webpage says a max of 6 people can be admitted to a ride using the DAS. We will be 7 (the 5 of us plus the grandparents).
If they won’t let 7 on the ride, I guess DW and I will take turns riding with the group. I know we’ll have more trips in the future, but this is probably last time the kids will get to do it with their grandparents. I suspect it will probably be up to the CM working the entrance.
I’d love to hear from anyone that has had experience using DAS with larger group, or knows of someone that did. Thanks!

We have not used DAS with a large group but my understanding is that you’d max the 6 when securing your DAS return time, not at redemption.

Will they both have a DAS? If so, you may be able to all go.

No the DAS is actually for my son. If they do limit us to 6, maybe they’d let us use the rider swap system? I know that’s not the intended use, but I think aligns with the spirit of including families with special needs.

If you have a conversation with them during the registration process before your trip they will very likely approve 7. I know a group who was 7 in early October and that’s exactly what they did. I think they are just trying to prevent people from misusing it, but they surely don’t want one person to have to sit out.

What @OBNurseNH said. It also is at the discretion of the CM but I don’t think you would have issues adding in 1, especially if you are kind about it

This is what I’m hoping for. The alternative would be to use LL and try to time things up with the DAS so we can ride those together. That sounds like a stressful trip to me though.

Definately ask ahead of time like the others have suggested. Or just show up, beg for mercy and plan to take turns if need be.

I’ve been in this situation (group of 7), and I was only allowed to register 6 (DAS holder (my son) plus 5) at the time we got the DAS approval ahead of the trip. Then, we had to add the 7th name to our group with a blue umbrella once in the park. They said we had to pick which 6 from the group of 7 would ride each ride. I wasn’t too bothered by that, so I didn’t press, and we just alternated who got left off each time.
However, last time I traveled with another friend and a group of 7. She just asked the CM to make an exception, and they did.* So it appears to be discretionary.
*In principle, it doesn’t bother me that they made an exception like that. I hope they do it for you, and if the first CM says no, just ask someone else. Nicely, of course. However, this friend CONSTANTLY asks to be an exception to everything, and her DAS status is a bit dubious if you asked me, so in her case it rubs me a bit the wrong way.
