D23 news is going to start coming fast so I thought I’d create a dedicated thread for it.
Starting with this model of Piston Peak! I am in love with this. It will be awesome in real life. It will bring much needed foliage and moving water to this part of the park.

I think it looks neat! I’ve never been to Disneyland so is it similar to theirs? It seems like a large space and villains land will be back there too?! It’ll take forever to walk around the park! 
The water it’s replacing was stagnant and unless you were on TSI itself, it felt more like a desert or swamp than a refreshing part of the park, IMO.
This looks interesting. I hope WDW won’t use 3D glasses, or shooting like was done on a Ghostbusters ride. But, who knows!
The new design has plenty of water and waterfalls. I actually think I will like it more than what was there before.
Piston Peak looks great. As much as I’ll always miss the atmosphere of the Liberty Belle going around, I never rode it, and TSI was a non factor for me and my family. PP looks like the perfect way to reinvigorate that area of the park and keep it relevant for future visitors.
I’m looking forward to this ride, the house and the whole movie just seems like something that would look really amazing in an immersive ride
Cars land I feel kind of indifferent about because I think we’ve already seen this at other parks and to be honest I never really cared for the whole franchise.
Piston Peak looks like a huge land! Also glad to see lots of trees and water. Are the rides the same as in DL CA?
No, quite a bit different. It almost looks like to me as if Radiator Springs Racers and Grizzly River Run had a baby.
The smaller ride is probably something like Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree / Alien Swirling Saucers. But it could be more like bumper cars.

The area’s value was more in what it contributed to the atmosphere and beauty of the park. Magic Kingdom has precious few respite locations. This new Piston Peak development looks like it’ll have a frenetic vibe—the opposite of what it’s replacing.
Disney World has 40 square miles to play with. They’re expanding the MK perimeter to add Villains Land. They didn’t have to destroy the Rivers of America to build Piston Peak.
I’m usually good with change—maybe I’ll be won over when it’s all done.

I totally get your perspective. If they came after Rivers of America in Disneyland I would fight them. But at WDW I feel like that space was nice to look at but underutilized.
Based on the concepts here I could really see this feeling like a wilderness area. It might take some time for the trees to fill out but if it gets to be anything like Grizzly Peak at DCA, it will be worth it IMO.
They had to destroy Rivers of America to build Villains land…so doing Piston Peak there utilizes space that otherwise wouldn’t have been usable. (When you look at the aerial view of the area, RoA would not feasibly be usable even for Villains land.)
Again, I think the models and images we have seen to date show that the water features are what you will be seeing primarily from Liberty Square and Frontierland. The frenetic nature of things will be more as you enter the land.
