Some very good examples in this Frequent Miler post on doing the math with points earning…
Thanks for the digging! I posted the question yesterday in an AMEX platinum group and several people have commented that these in-hotel Universal restaurants have triggered the Resy credits, so I’m now very optimistic! This is a fun new benefit to the card (which helps distract from the fact that they raised the annual fee quite a bit!)
Terrific!
I agree, these credits are fun - especially since I won’t get hit with the higher annual fee until next year! ![]()
This is great news! Now I can use my FHR credit for counter-service places, and the $50 Resy on my Amex Gold for a sit-down meal! (I have the biz Platinum). Should mean even LESS out of pocket for our Universal part of the trip!
Wait…. does the FHR credit work at counter service places in the parks?? Or are you talking about counter service at the hotel? Because what I’m hearing in my girl math brain is that this trip might actually be free?!
(I just had to pay one million dollars a night for the hotel room, but after that, free city baby!!)
Hotel. Thinking the FHR credit can cover a couple of sandwiches at Sal’s Deli on both check in and check out day (or something at the pool bar!)
Useful CSR checklist I found on reddit of things to do before & after 10/26. That’s the date benefits change.
Before 10/26
- Transfer points to CSR from other Chase cards. Points accumulated before 10/26 can still be redeemed on CSR for 1.5x value until October 2027.
10/26/25 – 12/31/25
- Activate Apple TV+ & Apple Music (can activate anytime starting 10/26)
- Activate IHG Platinum Status (can activate anytime starting 10/26)
- $250 “The Edit” hotel credit valid through 12/31/25
- $150 StubHub credit valid through 12/31/25 edit: need to activate first!
- $150 dining credit valid through 12/31/25
- Points earned after 10/26 can be redeemed for 1x. 1.5 multiplier is gone.
- Peloton statement credit starts. (Available starting 10/26)
- Unlock $75K spend benefits: IHG Diamond Elite Status, $500 Southwest credits, A-List status with Southwest and $250 Shops at Chase credit. (can activate anytime starting 10/26)
Starting 1/1/26
-
“The Edit” hotel credit resets to $500 for the year (Not biannual. Can use anytime)
-
StubHub credit increases to $300 (biannual)
-
Dining credit increases to $300 (biannual)
-
$250 one-time hotel credit for select properties eg IHG (2026 only)
Thanks to this thread, just booked a reservation at Flora Taverna for Saturday. Going to use our Resy credit. Great way to take a break and saved some money with a nice sit down meal.
Thanks everyone!
Got it! Great idea for those transition days!
There might be some good news regarding expiring Southwest flight credits:
If you haven’t been following, with all the recent changes they changed the policy so that flight credits created after the end of May expire:
- Cancelled Basic fares generate a credit that expires in 6 months (insanity)
- Higher fare credits expire in a year.
Someone in the 10xTravel group posted what might be a hack to turn expiring credits into non-expiring. First off: this is a new tactic AFAIK, but there are already a few other people in the thread reporting it worked for them.
I included some captures from the thread below for reference.
Note: a few people first reported it did NOT work, but they didn’t pay attention to the fact that the booking you make and cancel needs to be a CHOICE PREFERRED fare.
When they tried again using that fare they reported it did indeed work.
Basic rundown from this report, all aspects need to be done as below:
- They booked a CHOICE PREFERRED fare flight using expiring expiring flight credits
- They used a Southwest gift card as a 3rd form of payment
Once they cancelled the Choice Preferred fare (done right away) their credits returned as non-expiring.
One person in the thread said, (without reporting any evidence they tried any of this) that the gift card isn’t required - it is the Choice Preferred booking that causes the non-expiring credit.
| That makes logical sense to me, but I find it suspicious that if it were indeed that simple that no one had noticed and reported this before. Guess we’ll have to see, but for that guy: | ![]() |

I don’t know how this is possible, but I saw this exact post on Facebook minutes after reading your post here. Definitely AI stalking my browser history.
Pretty excited!
Background: DH and I stacked up a nice stash of Ultimate Rewards points by opening 2 cards. We got around 320k points between the 2 of is with SUBS and spending and 1 referral bonus. We had around 80k from our Freedom cards that transfered.
We have booked a 5 night stay in Orlando for Universal, 4 nights at the Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres $$$ and still have around 70 or 80k left! That Secrets stay was worth $2900 alone.

On site?
Is this via the chase portal?
Woohoo!
No, Hyatt House or Place (can’t remember which now). It’s basically in between the 2 campuses. We’re fine with ride share to the parks at Universal. We’ve stayed at Hard Rock with a 1 BR suite for under $400. Now, the same room would ask double that. No thank you. For 2 ppl, paying for Exp Pass is cheaper.
No. I transferred points to Hyatt. I did check the portal first and it was not even close in terms of value. 45k points a night for holiday time travel that includes food and drinks on a very nice property is worth it. But our Universal stay has a split king/ living room layout for, iirc, 9k a night!
Hyatt = Secrets? Didn’t know that was a thing!
They have a few different big name all inclusive lines, including Dreams resirys. Some Sunscapes all inclusives start at 12k points a night!

Wow! The world of Hyatt card is looking very attractive all of a sudden. Still not sure the low SUB of 60k is with a 5/24 hit, but we’ll see.
