Woo!
I really dislike how their system uses things, on my Swan stay I ended up booking 5 days in 3 separate bookings to make sure I used my 50k certs to full advantage.

Probably worth entering this contest daily until January 31st -
Thank you! I set a daily reminder.
So an oddity with this booking - when I click on my trips, the booking shows and it lists the rate as point savers. When I look at my account it shows I have one FNA available, but this booking should have used all five I had. Any pitfalls I should be aware of? I won’t attempt to use that bonus FNA until after we’ve completed this stay.
The rate info has this
The recent activity shows the cancelation of the previous booking but not the new reservations.
That’s a new one to me! Not sure what is happening there.
When I refunded the original it showed I had six FNA, and when I rebooked it showed using the five FNA, so very weird.
Marriott definitely has a room full of monkeys in a back room mashing buttons.
@JJT It is “save 10% off of Target Gift Cards up to $500 day” today! Bummed you can’t buy Disney Gift Cards with this…unless you know a back door way around it??? Speak to us Obi-Won!
Sadly no back door on buying GCs with GCs in this deal.
However I do believe you do not need to use your Target card to buy the Target GCs, so if you wanted to earn, say, 500 Chase points you could use your Sapphire etc. A slight bonus, at least.
And you can always use imaginary numbers (aka Disney math) to count the 10% saved on that max $500 per account to your Disney savings.
Not a points deal (per se) but a good savings if you are a targeted Verizon FiOS OR just Verizon Wireless customer and a Netflix subscriber:
Buy an annual Uber One for $96 through their +play system and get Netflix Premium free for a YEAR.
Now, there are some perks to Uber One that I can see - the possibility of $0 delivery fees and cash back on orders (after hitting a minimum) plus 6% Uber one credits on some rides.
But that doesn’t really thrill me too much, as I pretty much only use Uber for rides when on a trip, and many trips I’m renting a car anyway.
As I’ve pointed out several times above in this thread, I also play the Uber Eats game using monthly credits I get from my Amex Platinum and DW’s Gold cards. (Ooh I just realized it is December and my Amex Plat credit is boosted this month!)
But, I almost ALWAYS use pick up on orders, so the $0 delivery is meh.
There’s a slight possibility I might benefit from order cash back, but I don’t tend to hit the $15 minimum on each order, so likely a double meh.
BUT: THE NETFLIX
The real win to me in this deal is getting PREMIUM Netflix for a year!
Right now I’m paying almost $17/month for the standard version - which is perfectly fine.
We haven’t had too many times in my family when more than 2 of us were trying to stream.
1080p is at least slightly better than my Gran’s 1961 black and white TV that I grew up watching, with the channel change knob that popped out and randomly snowed up the screen, that I, as the youngest in the family then had to jump up and push back in so we could continue watching.
(Yes, I WAS THE REMOTE CONTROL in my house.)
So I’m cool with it.
But - I don’t mind getting 4K Ultra HD now, especially on certain epic movies. Also is nice to be able to download onto SIX devices - which is useful when we’re taking a family trip.
But, even if I value all of those things listed above at $0.00 - I am now getting Netflix for $8/month, or >50% off for a year.
If you use this offer - just be sure to set a reminder in your calendar to CANCEL the Uber One and Netflix Premium in your Verizon +play dashboard next year!
BTW: This will work with your current Uber and Netflix accounts, you do not need to create a new account as is sometimes the case with offers like this. Once you accept the offer and set up a payment method in the Verizon portal, there will be a link to send you to Uber one, and then after that a link to send you to Netflix. I logged in to both services in my browser before turning things on at Verizon so it was all ready to go.
(Also, probably a good idea to at least temporarily disable any script or ad blockers in your browser since there is a lot of site to site handing off happening. Don’t want anything to break in the middle of the process.)
Back in October, I decided to open my own Disney Visa premier (I know, not the best for the points value). I used my husbands referral link so I could get the SUB and he could get the $100.
8 weeks later…no referral bonus on his account. I decided to message Chase through his account (pretending to be him…which I know is probably unethical but we share passwords soooo ) and ask why he didn’t get the sign up bonus. They asked for my information and after a few back and forth messages, they decided to award the $100 to him. It was nearly an instantaneous hit to the account.
I’ve never had it take that long. Maybe I used the wrong referral or the link didn’t link. I don’t know - but I’m sharing here in case anyone ends up with a similar problem. IMO, it never hurts to ask! The worst that Chase could’ve done was tell me no, but now I’m $100 richer.
Side note: now we have enough $$ to cover our fishing charter on our trip
Sometimes that kind of thing just happens, glad it worked out!
FWIW, I always screenshot every step of my card applications from the referral link to the last step just in case.
That extra FNA did eventually disappear, but some extra points showed up. I think the system just didn’t process one of the cancellations fully so it refunded but didn’t apply because that particular FNA hadn’t been released yet?
Hardly. I “pretend” to be DH all the time. When we got married and hadn’t opened a joint account yet, I had been signing his name for so long that when he did go to write a check it was declined because of the signature! This was over 20 years ago. Now signatures barely matter.
Oh yeah, I should have said that too. My wife and I have a shared password database so we can each log into each other’s accounts.
I always keep her in the loop, but I send messages through the Chase and Amex portals all the time in her account!
That’s #goals!
Another chance to book or garden your Southwest flights if you use points!
Sale flight dates at bottom here:
Checking on NY to MCO for fun, some nice ones!
Interestingly, on that Jan 7th 8,737 point day, it was the best option (the only non-stop) that had the best price!
I posted this in SW thread. Just wanted to copy here.
Doesn’t seem all bad. Wish I could see what the actual cost effect will be with these changes.
Details on this family’s extensive trip planning:
I have not had time to read them yet - I visited his site and started reading his post on his wife getting run over by a car in Zimbabwe and I’m too traumatized to focus on these right now.
