Crazy Like a Fox or Stupid Like a Fox?

Current plan for one of our park days (staying at BLT with rental car to travel between parks):

EP: 10:30 am - 11:30 am for GotG LLSP only

HS: Noon pm - 6:30 pm with LLPP (will do all rides, but no shows)

MK: 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm with LLMP (BTM plus 2 others) and LLSP for Tron

Should we walk over to MK (from BLT) at 9:30 am for the sole reason to tap into something like Magic Carpets so we can book LLs for SM and PPF for the evening along with prebooked LL for BTM? Or is that a waste of time and a bad idea to add this to an already busy day?

That’s quite a day! And a tough call actually, for someone who loves optimized touring plans :rofl:

My personal solution would be to skip the MK tap-in and use Genie to start hunting for other Tier 1s as soon as I tapped into my first ride at MK. It’s never failed me so far. Though also I think you’d manage to ride both of those through SB late in the evening, PPF especially drops off after families leave. Depends on whether you want to stake out a fireworks or parade spot in advance?

The MK tap-in is totally doable in theory, but you’ve already got a big day with lots of walking and I think I’d rather be less tired to properly enjoy MK in the evening, even if it meant one ride Tier 1 less overall.

Um - NO! You should RD AK so you can check off 4P1D!

I would do that! … but DW and the kids won’t get up that early!

If it were up to me, I’d RD AK for early entry and hop around the parks until MK closed at 10/11:00 pm.

So why don’t you do the 4p1d challenge and meet them at Epcot?

It’s a good idea, but not something I will do for a number of reasons (none of which are huge but in total make it not worthwhile to me):

(1) Since my kids were born so much of my enjoyment at the parks is being with them (even though I went many times as an adult before I had kids);

(2) The kids (11 and 9) will say they want me to wake them up early to go with me, but then will be difficult to get out of bed when I actually wake them (and no matter what they say, I’m not sure they can handle staying to MK until close if they are up that early);

(3) DW is not a Disney person and if I’m not at the resort to get the kids moving and ready for EP, I’m not sure what time they will arrive; and

(4) DW won’t want to take the monorail so I’d need to leave her the rental car and take the bus to AK (and I really dislike the buses).

Bottom line: It’s a better trip for everybody if we all stay together.

Ok … here’s my latest revised plan instead of the above.

HS: 10:30 am - 5:00 pm with LLPP (will do all rides but no shows) and LLMP prebooked for extra rides on SDD, TSM and A2S

EP: 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm for GotG only with LLSP

MK: 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm with LLMP (SM same day booked after tap in at HS LL plus 2 others) and LLSP for Tron

By moving HS to the first park in the morning, I can use the LLMP intended for evening at MK to get a few extra LL rides at HS before starting to book MK LLs for the evening. It likely means trading BTM for SM unless I get BTM at a drop, but worth it for the extra SDD and TSM LL rides.

This sounds super fun. I have to ask - how do you fit food into such ambitious plans?

Great question. We are not big eaters at WDW and do snacks and QS. The kids would much rather experience attractions than sit and eat (and DW and I go along with it). We used to make TS res at WDW and the kids would take a few bites and then tell DW and I they were ready to go. It was a lot of time and money for something the kids didn’t enjoy. Very different than WDW trips before I had kids where TS meals were a big part of the experience.

On arrival day we either stop to get groceries or have them delivered to our resort. Breakfast is typically granola bars, yogurt or muffins on our way to the parks. For the above plan, lunch will be QS at ABC Commissary at HS and dinner will be QS at Columbia Harbor House with a few snacks throughout the day. We can do a mobile order QS lunch or dinner in 30-45 mins.

That makes a lot of sense! Thanks. I was curious at to whether you had specific places you wanted to grab food from or if it was a flexible “wherever we are when we’re hungry” approach.

Same. We just don’t ever eat as much as I think we might eat. When Marie and I went last year, I’d saved all these reels of meals and snacks we were going to get and we hit maybe 40-50%.

I was just joking with adding AK. I know how your family tours, but was teasing about filling those hours. Sticking together ALWAYS trumps checking a box.
