Countdown to summer in 3....2.....It's an EPIC summer kickoff!

Yeah the “just” was a little confusing. I meant “just do it,” not “only get internet.”

Makes sense now!

That is the best thing about staying at the Hyatt. We had a flight that arrived around 11 pm (many hours late) before one of our cruises and it was after midnight before our bags finally came out. It was sooo nice to just hop in the elevator to the lobby and then go straight to our room.

We just do it for our phones and one old smart phone that isn’t connected to cellular that just connects to the ship wif and then our DD12 (who doesn’t have a phone yet at home), uses to check the app herself, send us iMessages or the last 2 cruises my kids have been using the DCL app to start group chats with their new friends in Edge.

You want the app for any device you will use to check the schedule or use to message each other. I would think you wouldn’t be doing that on your tablet or laptop since you will have the TV right there in the room that could also pull it up if somehow you weren’t using your phone to access it.

Oh man! Usually I agree with Tom Bricker on a lot. But the worst thing on the whole ship?!?! It wasn’t a highlight necessarily and it wasn’t anything I’d wait more than 15-20 minutes to ride BUT it was fun. There are a lot of splash effects (so if you are sensitive about water in your face, goggles are your friend) and the water is not heated, so another thing to watch out for.
It’s prob less a concern for this time of year, but we went in February and had some very mild weather days with wind & a spot of rain so it was chilly, but zero wait, for the AquaMouse.

Oh yes, that will be so nice! It looks so fun to stay there. One of these years.

Best of both worlds! I love it! :tada:

Oh yes, if you need to be able to make phone calls to someone that you can’t just Facetime or Webex or Zoom or some kind of web-based calling, definitely go to your provider to find out their cellular at sea option. When DH has had to do work on the ship he’s at most needed to do Webex audio call, emails and working on a file. And so far :crossed_fingers:t3:it’s all worked for him with the DCL internet. This last cruise I had to send one thing out to my boss that could have waited until the day we were getting off, but I had some time on the ship so I sent it and it was slow but eventually got there.

You could always get the cellular plan ahead of time and then wait & see if you also need coverage from the DCL internet & purchase it at that point. It will be available to purchase until the last night (my guess would be at midnight? but I’ve never checked).

Does anyone know what UOR’s policy is in regards to sharing EPs within the same party? I’m just wondering if DS and I could use DD10 and DD9 EPs if they don’t want to ride something at Epic (Stardust Racers is what initially comes to mind). I don’t really care if we can’t do this just didn’t know what the official CM line would be about sharing. I feel like we’ve done it at WDW before…

Pretty sure I have swapped admission with someone to use EP before. Might as well give it a try, I say.

ETA: I have only ever had EP with my hotel now that I think about it, so maybe I haven’t done this. Maybe ask a TM and see what they say. “X is too short to ride, can Y use their pass?” That would be safest. If it’s against TOS that could be problematic. Don’t want to give you bad advice.

I did a little reading online and the most common question that comes up is if multiple people can share one express pass. This is a big no no and could result in consequences (confiscation of EP, park ban, etc.). They don’t want you to buy 3 EPs for 6 people and mix and match who is riding what.

On the other hand, if everyone in your party has EP and you are just letting one person ride twice with an unused EP, that might be more innocuous. Still maybe prohibited technically speaking but IMO not what the prohibitions are targeting.

There is a photo/scan associated with your Express Pass at Universal. They don’t always check it but they do most of the time. So I don’t think you could let someone else use your pass even just for one ride.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Maybe something that is unofficially handled on a case by case basis? One of those doesn’t hurt to ask but don’t expect it to go your way kind of things?

WDW sort of has this too right? Not a picture but a ticket + guest info (age?) when cards and bands are scanned through LLs?

True, but team members at Universal do actually look at the pictures. I’ve never seen them pay much attention to the information at WDW but have had to stand and wait while they check my picture at Universal!

Today’s the day!!!

We bumped our flight to last flight out tonight. Which always makes me nervous but hopefully we make it!

Have not packed a single thing. It’s gonna be a fun day!

Oh, and we’re having family over tonight before we leave to celebrate DD8’s birthday! :tada:

That’s how all the best trips start! Hope the packing goes well and that DD has a fun birthday celebration with the family tonight!

These two sentences shouldn’t go together.

I know! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: We also had a birthday party for her with her friends last night. We live on narrow margins around here.

Also just now realizing I have a bazillion Disney loungflys….and no Universal ones. It’ll bug me to be Disney-bag-in-universal lady. Guess I’ll have to fix that this trip!

UOR has some fantastic Loungeflys too. I remember oohing and ahhing at a bunch when we were souvenir shopping. And the ones I was looking at were both Marvel and HP. So I agree, you’ll have to do it.

Yes, I think you do!

(BTW, I have no loungefly bags at all. I am starting to feel FOMO)

The Harry Potter ones are awesome! My daughters each have one. One is a Honeydukes one and one is Hogwarts Castle.
