Awesome When I said I was negative, DD8 ran up to me, gave me a hug and said āIāve been waiting to do this for so long.ā Then DS5 said āI want a hug too.ā
You didnāt cry, right? I totally would have.
YLE was on In The Bubbie this week. Not much new, but they did discuss an angle on the Covid booster timing that others might want to consider.
If you have holiday travel plans and want to maximize your protection around that, you might want to hold off getting your Covid booster a few weeks. YLE said sheād definitely get it before the end of October though.
YLE also discusses Covid boosters this week in her blog, including mixing of vaccines, the onboarding series for Covid vaccines rookies (including kids), potentially waiting to get the booster following infection, etc.
the local paper reported a rise in RSV cases here, YLE doesnāt address that vaccine in conjunction w/ the others.
The doctor told us that we did not need the booster right now with a recent positive Covid test. Is there an updated recommendation on how long to wait?
I masked around my family until I had two negatives also. My husband had out a lot of work into solo parenting to avoid it, so I did it for him I get it, totally.
Everything Iām hearing is that RSV vax is expected to be more durable so just go get it. No need to try to time it.
YLE gives her recommendation in the link I posted this morning. The CDC has NOT updated their FAQs yet, but Iām guessing it wonāt change much.
Thank you!
I thought this article had some good info.
They think we may be on the other side of this surge, anyway. But yeah. if 1 in every ~50 people is currently infected, pretty significant exposure out there.
Obviously anecdotal by DW and I know many people who were infected with Covid for the first time over the past month (including both of us). That it is addition to the many reinfections we currently know of including a friend who recently suffered his 4th infection.
I scheduled my vax booster appointment for next week with CVS. This will be my 6th dose. My previous one was the bivalent booster about a year ago.
There werenāt many locations offering Moderna, which is what Iāve had up til now and plan to stick with.
My health insurance said they will cover it.
I signed up for emails/notifications from Pfizer and this link about finding an appointment is really nice b/c it shows if/where the stock is located by your zip code. I had made our appointments last week before the official announcement in anticipation and the link verified that itās in stock where Iāve scheduled our appointment.
Got a text from NJ Dept of Health to check with them before throwing out any expired test kits by calling 855-568-0545 to see if theyāre in fact still good.
They are going to be offering free tests again.
Anyone been able to get Covid booster appointments for ages 5-11? The pharmacies in our area have the new adult booster, but not the 5-11 booster.
Dr Osterholm says heās had 2 appointments with pharmacies cancel on him due to running out of vaccine. Seems the rollout is a bit clunky and demand maybe higher than they thought. Hopefully you can find it soonā¦.in the next couple of weeks.
Also, have you checked with your pediatricianās office?
Yes, our ped office has ordered the vaccines, but they havenāt been delivered yet.
Yes, we will keep checking.
This is the tricky part for me. Knowing that itās surging now, and all of my kids have already caught colds at school (3 weeks in), Iād like to do it soon. But we will have gatherings at the end of the year and we have a trip planned in January that make me want to hold off a month.
We all (3) got our new Covid shot this morning, all free, only 2/3 of us have insurance. And only 2/3 of us got our flu shot too. Iāve read that there have been issues around the country w/ ppl being charged for the vaccine.
