In the past I’ve booked a private transfer from MCO to the resort but this time I have a smaller group so it’s far more expense per person. What would your recommendation be for transportation: Lyft, Uber, a regular taxi? We don’t need car seats; 4 people, 3 suitcases.

Either of these will work just fine. Make sure you book the XL or whatever seats 6 people so you have enough room for people and suitcases. I usually check both and go with the cheapest. Last week there was a big difference between them, like $35 vs $70 so it pays to check them both.

Lyft and Uber are super easy at MCO. I imagine Christmas Day itself will be less busy than the days surrounding, but it is a holiday so be prepared for surge pricing. It’s usually like $40 for UberX but it might be as high as $80 with surge pricing or more since you’d need XL.
ETA: I just tried to book XL and it was $50 for right now, and $65 to pre book for Christmas Day (pre booking usually costs more regardless of time). Can’t guarantee it won’t rise in price before then, but that would be your baseline.

Do either Lyft or Uber…
Using a rideshare for the first time can be a little intimidating. However, it’s so easy and convenient.
I just paid $50 last week to get from MCO to my hotel with tax & tip.
As advised get the “XL” Lyft / Uber to make sure the car has enough trunk space for all your bags
