Hi all! Still working on our Touring Plans for my family’s first WDW trip with DH, DD6, DS2, and myself.
DD6 has been my helper with the planning, since her happiness is the family’s happiness, if you know what I mean! She is soooo excited for the rides and has been reading up on them in her Birnbaum’s Kids Guide Book.
However, she has not interest in character greets. I don’t know if I should plan them anyways incase they’re awesome or if they’re okay to skip. She really has no idea what to expect, so again, I’m wondering if I plan the greets anyways because they are fun for a 6yo and 2yo.
I’m betting she will change her mind once there and she sees them. Might not be a bad idea to build some time in, at least for some basics like the Mouse himself and a few characters from a favorite show or movie. We LOVE character meets, and my kids are 8&11. There are some my DH asks for and some I would do on my own too
IMHO, character meets: nay. However, character meals, a big YAY. If your kids have their heart set on meeting a character only available via meet & greet, then Ok. Otherwise, schedule those character meals and free up precious touring time.
Over the years, our family has consistently had better quality character interactions during meals: Tigger at Crystal Palace and Donald at Chef Mickey’s most memorable.
I agree with this, too. Character meals are a better use of time - eat AND meet! We do lots of them. Our favorites are 1900 Park Fare (dinner) and Tusker House (breakfast)
I too love the character meals. Great way to meet characters without waiting in lines. Not all kids are comfortable with meeting characters, though, so you might want to discuss that with your daughter. Maybe she is nervous about it? Or maybe she is more interested in riding the rides and doesn’t want to spend that time on M&Gs.
My boys were never interested in M&Gs until they got autograph books, and now they want to collect signatures. The younger one has anxiety over talking to the characters, but will happily do it with his big brother present. Neither of them like to spend a lot of time waiting in lines to meet characters, so the character meals are great for us. (Plus I get lots of pics of them with characters!)
If you think your daughter might enjoy meeting princesses, Akershus is a great character meal!
You guys are awesome! I was wondering if the character breakfasts were a good substitute for the meet & greets!
So far we have lunch at Cinderella’s Castle, lunch at Crystal Palace (still looking for a breakfast :-)), lunch at Hollywood & Vine (skip?), lunch at Tusker House, and a breakfast at Chef Mickeys. Not sure if our wallet can handle all of these, so hoping to simplify.
Also, who will we meet at the Epcot Character Spot?
I’d book them anyway. My DD7 was similarly uninterested, even scared, to do a meet… until we did CRT. Her tune changed after that. If you do that first Character Meal and she’s still not enthused, you can always delete the ones you’ve planned.
We met Mickey - Minnie - Goofy - Daisy.
My kids have no real interest in Character meets right now. Personally (as a 46 year old) I think that is part of the fun. But I am not “forcing” anything on anyone at this point. Where is Jasmine BTW? HA
