My family will be staying at Caribbean Beach Resort November 20-26. We currently have a standard room but recently found out with a current promotion we can upgrade to a preferred room for $441. Is it worth it to upgrade or should we just keep our current reservation? My kids are 12 and 10.

$441 sounds reasonable to me for 6 nights, but it all depends on what features you are looking for in a preferred room. You can’t guarantee that you will be close to either the Skyliner or the bus / main building, though you should have either / or.

Personally, even as spread out as CBR is, I wouldn’t spring for it. When I stayed there a couple of years ago I had a standard room, and I was right across the bridge from the main building, and very close to the Riviera skyliner station. I had a bus station not far from my room too. And I was close to a quiet pool. I was in building 46 (room 4608 specifically) for your reference.

The preferred rooms don’t offer that much of an advantage IMO. The only section I would not want to stay in is Trinidad, but I believe those are the Little Mermaid rooms anyway so a different category completely (I believe).

I just booked a preferred room here for DH and DD under the AP holiday offer. I was able to make a request (via Chat) to be near the skyliner. Specifically, I requested Aruba for them to be near the Riviera skyliner station.

I’ve had three rooms in the standard section of Jamaica which have been perfect. Building 44 and 45 specifically. Close to the bridge to the main building, close to the bus, and close to the Skyliner.

$441 would buy a lot of LL. I wouldn’t bother upgrading unless I was planning to spend a lot of time at the main pool and/or main lobby.

I actually prefer the buildings that are at the end of Jamaica and the beginning of Aruba. You’re about halfway between the two Skyliner stations, and close to the bridge that goes over to Old Port Royale. Not super close to one particular thing, but the same distance from everything. I’d have to check again, but I don’t think any of those buildings count as Preferred.
I hesitate to say this out loud, lest Disney get any ideas about marking up prices in that area.

I haven’t stayed at CBR in over 10 years, so I have. no insight into the main question here, but I did just read the Disney Tourist Blog post about the Little Mermaid rooms (which he says are standard rooms), and he sold me on them! If I were planning a CBR stay, I think I’d try to go that route and risk the Trinidad location (but put in a building request to hopefully mitigate that).

We stayed in one of the Little Mermaid rooms in 2023. I think we were in Bldg 36 or 37 because it was a very quick walk to the small pool and Spyglass Grill. Very convenient for filling drink cups. It was also not super far from the Skyliner (and a Joffreys that was not very busy in the mornings).
The room itself was brand new and very comfortable. I love the Little Mermaid and I think I liked it better than my kiddo.
It was a fairly long trek to the main pool but we only went there once so it was not a big deal.
