Need advice from any computer technical guru, please.
Suddenly today I am unable to log onto both disneyworld.com and disneygiftcard.com using my correct logon & password. As soon as I hit “signin” the logon process is stopped, and I get prompted to use a one time code emailed to me. When I do that everything works fine & I am able to logon. So I changed my password given the warnings Disney printed with the instructions to get a “one-time code.” Only problem is that even with the new password, I have to use a new one-time code AGAIN, and AGAIN and AGAIN in order to log on. I logged on to Disney yesterday and everything worked perfectly, and I have not experienced this problem with any other site that requires a logon & password from me today, including logging onto TouringPlans just a few moments ago.
Any thoughts on what I need to do? Is it Disney’s web site, or perhaps my browser settings? Or has Josh D’Amaro decided he doesn’t like me anymore? .
All joking aside, I’d appreciate any input. Never experienced anything like this before. Thanks.
Well, the plot thickens. After posting my previous question, I went into my email in-basket to clean it and discovered an email from Disney from several hours ago notifying me that MyDisney account information was changed today. I did not do that, and after signing on again I was unable to see anything that was changed in my account. Everything looked correct to me. Thoroughly confused now. Had to resort to sending an email to Disney’s website support staff about all this as no one would answer their help phone number tonight. Ugh!
Over the summer I had to change my MDE, Disney gift card, and Disney+ account passwords. Log out of Disney plus and all your accounts and then log in with the code Disney sends, reset the password and reenter it for all things Disney.
If you have multiple devices logged into various Disney services, such as Disney+, MDE, etc, then make sure you log out of every one of them before you reset your password. Then after you successfully change your password log back into each account one at a time.
Sometimes if you change your password one place, the other devices keep trying to login with the old info and it locks you out. Annoying, and the consequence of Disney going to a single password for all services.
Guess I should have been more patient before troubling you all about this. I just got off the phone with an unexpected call from a Disney tech support person. Problem solved. It appears to be my Mozilla Firefox browser. Still it was a very interesting phone call
The lady I spoke with told me to relax as she’s helped others with this very same sign-on problem before. She sent me a special password reset link, and sure enough it did not work. I changed the password again using her special link and I still had to request a one-time access code. So she asked me to use another browser if I could. Since I had Microsoft Edge installed (which is not my default browser) I gave that one a try. Bingo! Everything worked okay without needing that extra access code. After I told her I’ve been using Firefox for years … she explained that all this could have been a result of some minor change with Disney’s web site recently, or a software update to my browser, one just can’t say for sure. She did say that Disney’s best web site interaction is with Google’s Chrome browser, for whatever that is worth to you all. So I tried the MDE app on my wife’s Google phone and sure enough, it worked perfectly too. As far as the MyDisney account changes are concerned, she was unable to shed any light on that. But did say I should be okay given the last password change I made.
I abandoned Firefox for Google Chrome a few years ago, because I was having increasing compatibility problems. Chrome isn’t perfect, but it is ubiquitous.
