Thinking of sending DH for a scuba day so he only needs 1 theme park day for our trip in March next year. How is scuba diving within a reasonable drive (1 hr) of Anaheim?

I was thinking the Channel Islands, but the ports for those trips are about 1.5 to 2 hours away.

Okay - this makes me wish I was not claustrophobic with ear pressure problems and could scuba. Catalina kelp forests are ranked a #10 dive site in the world. Port at Avalon is 45 mins from Anaheim:

i have a chronic eardrum perforation from the 10 PE tube surgeries (plus one mastoidectomy) i had as a kid, so no diving for me, or i’d do it in a second.

I would suggest Catalina, but it won’t be short. You’ll have to drive to a port with a Catalina Flyer (Newport closest to DLR) and take that boat to the island. It takes 75 minutes to get to the island. Total, it will likely take 2 hours each way of travel.

I agree, Catalina is the place to do it. But it will be a long day.
