Can anyone convince me that FQ is not the best moderate resort?

That is pretty! What section were you in?

We were in Aruba - rooms 5109 and 5110. We had a 5 minute walk to OPR. We were closest to the Jamaica bus stop and quiet pool so we used those. It was 5ish minutes to the CBR and Riviera Skyliner stations.

We never took the Riviera buses - but did walk there for dinner. The buses do separate in the morning - so Jamaica and Aruba have their own buses until 11am.

We had a rental car and never used it to get around the resort.

Edit - to be clear - I never timed my walks, but it felt like we were about the same walking distance to OPR/SL from that location.

If you’re traveling in storm season, you do risk the SL being down.

The other highlights to the SL is the ability to explore other areas. We had dinner at the AoA food court one night, while my dad took the SL over to the Boardwalk Deli for lunch one day. There were a lot of food choices in close proximity.

It’s not quite the same as access to Disney Springs, obviously, but it still gives you choices.

Thanks for the question. This was exactly what was on my mind when checking the forum. We stayed at FQ when i was a kid, now returning for 3rd trip with my own kids. So far we have always stayed at Poly. First with MVT deal, second on DFIL’s dime.

This time we are going to have to downgrade and will miss the monorail and pool. Was thinking about SL as a monorail replacement, but honestly I just can’t get over not walking under the ball! Such a letdown. So I’m leaning towards FQ in the end, I think.

FQ is lovely and peaceful. The boat to DS is a big draw for me. I hope you love it if that’s the resort you choose!

We did CBR in late August - height of thunderstorm season. We were in Building 43 Jamaica - it felt perfectly distanced from the quiet pool/laundry, Skyliner hub and Jamaica bus stop, and the walk over the bridge to Old Port Royale was pleasant. If you are Epcot or HS fans I highly recommend it.

We did have 4 nights with long late afternoon heavy thunderstorms that shut down the Skyliner, but we were already back in the room relaxing or doing laundry, so the biggest impact was figuring out a nearby dinner. We enjoyed Centertown Market and Banana Cabana, and leisurely walks to check out Riviera’s food, along with fireworks views from the main pool. I would stay there again.

ETA - loved having double sinks.

Thank you! It’s nice to hear some good reports about CBR. I feel like I don’t hear much about it. HS and Epcot are definitely top priorities. Especially HS as we are huge Star Wars fans.

I have stayed at FQ 3 times and think it’s an excellent choice for many reasons, but…
on our last trip we tried out the cabins at Fort Wilderness and that’s my new favorite resort. Such a unique experience!

This! Also I don’t know how I’ve missed this thread for 5 days.

They do look unique! We used to go there to eat at Trail’s End. We will probably try the take-out place this summer.

I’m starting to suspect that Brandon wants a bigger resort to do his Pokemon go stuff :joy:

French Quarter does have some stuff for the kids but I feel like it calls more to adults with the theming (outside of the pool area).
