My DS travels a lot for business. He warned me that sometimes the extra legroom seats do not have a space beneath the seat in front of you to store a small carryon. That is more important to me than the extra legroom. I wonder if you can tell by looking at the seat map?
Yeah if itās in an otherwise regular row it should have it. If itās front row then no
Which is crazy
Precisely why itās for sure no thanks except if itās free in 2 days from now
Yep. Nice perk though. I feel like there arenāt a lot of card perks these days.
I was always able to do it at the counter before if it was available. I had 4 upgrades a year - I had to pay upfront but then they would reimburse me
I did it a fair bit. I think I prefer this way.
It sounds easier now
We probably will not again either
Front row (or in front of a wall)are the only ones I know of on SW. They allow the small bag to be stowed above for take off and landing.
I loved the previous perks. We canceled 2 out of 3 SW cards because of the new system.
My group of 3 was upgraded to extra leg room (exit row) for free after I had picked seats at the 48 hour mark. The only three together were the very last row. A few hours later, SW had moved us up to the exit row. We were three adult women. There was no one seated in the row in front of us.
For anyone monitoring SW flight price patterns, the fares on both legs of my flight to/from Orlando shot way up today (2 weeks out). Glad I was able to grab the low fares @ 3 weeks out!
Just successfully upgraded my seat from Preferred to Extra Leg Room at the 48hr mark at no cost to me as a cardmember!
Iām now in row 4 window; the middle seat is open in that row and Iām hoping it stays that way ![]()
Nice!
If DS and I do go for the EXL seats on our late flight home, heās going to be jazzed you can get a beer in those upgraded seats.
I just saw that!
I just booked a flight in American and bought the extra legroom ticket because it came with a checked bag. We will need checked bags on the trip so the extra leg room was an aditional $10. I was really suprised that the only rows with extra legroom were the bulkhead (I donāt fit) and the emergency exit row. Luckily DD is 15. Iām hoping it means they have given the normal seats more legroomā¦
Seperately, we just flew Southwest for the first time since the new planes and they had just enough legroom to make me not claustrophobic. I will miss the old legroom.
Congrats!
Just adding a data point: now a week out, zero change to available for both of our flights.
Curious to see how/if it changes as I get closer to the 48 hour mark.
What was your process for this? Did you just pull up your reservation and change your seat selection?
When you look at your flight details, thereās a modify flight / change seats option to click, which goes right into the seat map.
Thanks!
