That sounds like so much fun - I would.love to be in a big house with another family. It makes me want to see if my sister wants to join us on this trip!

It can be fun or awful. I had the worst fight of my life with my brother on that Hawaii trip in 2017. Our relationship will probably never fully recover. 
But my friend and I travel together frequently and know we are good travel partners!!

Eeek! Good point. Me and my sister could do it but our husbands vacation very, very differently. Style match is important.

Thank you for everyone’s advice here. I ended up booking a VRBO right across from Kahalu’u beach park. I know it isn’t the nicest beach, or the most laid back area, but snorkeling is a very high priority and I couldn’t resist staying in a place that is directlly across the street from the entrance to a great snorkeling area.
Can’t wait to plan the rest (Waikiki, Aulani, and Big Island adventures)!
