BC or RR

Good morning, internet people!

So, kids and I are heading to WDW first week of August. I am really wanting to stay BC/BW as I love walking to HS/EP. However, I love having a one bedroom setup over a studio type set up. I like having the ability to go in a separate room to read a book while the kids watch a show in the other room.

Unfortunately, the 1 bedroom villas at both BC and BWV only sleep 4 and we have 5. I currently have a 1 bedroom booked at RR - I love this resort but we all know it’s pricey and not walkable. I could move us over to BC into a room on the resort side OR secure a studio at BWV. I gain walkability and some extra spending money but loose the ability to have a bit more elbow room and separation from my kids/freedom to wake up early without disturbing everyone else.

Thoughts? We’ve stayed in a studio at both BCV and BWV before and I remember them being a bit tight for 5 people. Never stayed on the resort side at BC…

Also, both BC and BW are currently in the middle of renovations. Wondering how this is affecting the overall ambiance there.

I think the remodeled studios at BC (only about half the resort has been remodeled) are a good setup for 5. I would skip BW until the remodel is complete. I feel like it gets poor reviews more frequently than other deluxes.

RR you could also probably get by with a studio since they sleep 5 and you have the benefit of 2 showers.

I haven’t done BC, BW, or RR, but we just did a studio at YC last month with 5 people so similar to BC. It worked, and we didn’t feel cramped. However, we aren’t big packers (only carry-ons for all of us), and we really weren’t in the room all that much. The line for the shower did get backed up a bit in the evenings, so that was the only negative.

There isn’t anything available on the DVC side so we’d be staying in a standard room on the resort side.

Right. Lack of communal spaces is one thing I’m a tad concerned about. Especially knowing we’ll all want to shower at night.

We didn’t really stay out super late though, so most of the time we still all got to sleep at a decent hour, even after waiting for the shower. We never had a problem with running out of hot water at least!

Oh, and as far as waking people up in the morning, I had no problems. My alarm would go off and wake me up, but everyone else would still be zonked out. You could also separate some on your patio/balcony.

We just stayed in a regular YC room with our fam of 5. For a standard hotel room, it was spacious compared to other places we’ve stayed. The one bathroom for 5 people is always hard, but we’re kind of used to that being an issue when we travel. No construction at YC so that would be a plus for you, too.

Is there a shower in the fitness center at BC/YC? I know there are showers in the fitness center at BW and it is a great option.

There is a fitness center, though I didn’t pay attention if it had showers or not, but that’s a good idea!

There are showers near the pool between BC/YC. I’m not sure if they are the fitness center showers or not. (I used them after a long day at the park before heading home).

Are those showers outside of the main pool area?

Yes they are kinda beside Beaches and Cream on the walkway.

Oh that is also close to the fitness center?

Yes, they are almost right next door.

ETA- here’s a pic. And now that @LTinNC82 mentions it, I think I do remember seeing the showers at SAB. I think they might be in that section in between my two red boxes, with the 5 flags on top.

I think so, but I have never tried to locate a fitness center at a Disney resort so I don’t know.

If memory serves me they are basically under the A in Arcade.

Definitely in one of those two areas!

A Disney trip is a workout in and of itself
