Bad news/good news

After 5 years of ducking and dodging, COVID finally got me. So the one-day trip to Hollywood Studios with my brother in a couple of weeks is off. Argh!

We’ve rescheduled for early October. And since I’ll already be there… I’ve booked a hotel so I can hang out a little longer and do MNNSHP! I need a particular accessible room type, so I booked a range of dates, with the intention of paring down once the party dates are announced. That was two hours ago. I’ve already checked pricing to add park tickets for the whole reservation.

I’m hopeless.

Sorry for the current timing. Always tough to have a trip get changed because of unforeseen things.
Making lemonade out of lemons tho. Even more to look forward to!

You deserve it after being sick.

Of course, how hard COVID hits anyone can vary widely…but 2 weeks out, you probably could have kept the trip. (When my wife and I caught COVID in December 2022 while at WDW, my wife barely had any symptoms and it was over for her within a few days. For me, it hit me something fierce and felt miserable for 10 days. :frowning: )

BUT, I think switching it to October is going to make the trip better, it sounds…so you know…sounds like not a bad thing, entirely, at all!

Hope you manage to weather it rather unscathed, regardless!

Wait why?

Current recommendations are for isolation for 5 days from the start of symptoms or until symptoms have significantly improved, whichever is longer. A mask is recommended for an additional 5 days thereafter.

I 100% agree.

Unfortunately, I’m immune compromised, and it is really hard to predict how my body will deal with respiratory stuff. A few years back I caught something in early December while visiting my dad at the hospital. I was hacking and snotty until February. And then every time I exerted myself I’d relapse for a couple of days. I wasn’t completely over it until the end of April. Maybe I’ll be back to normal by then, and it would have been fine. But I don’t want to risk getting down there and discovering that I am absolutely not fine. We talked about just pushing the trip out another week or two, but that didn’t work with my brother’s schedule. The Halloween party was on my bucket list, so October works out best for me anyway.

I’m not immunocompromised, early 50s and in very good physical shape (workout, play tennis and practice yoga regularly). but it took me about 7 weeks post-Covid to recover from the fatigue. No way would I have had the energy to spend a day walking around WDW a couple weeks out.

DW on the other hand felt fine after a few days.

It is a very unpredictable disease.

So I agree with your decision to postpone the trip. I hope you have a blast in October!
