Anyone ever have to fly no ID?

No Clear at PHL.

Just out of curiosity, do they accept scanned / digital copies of documents in a pickle? I have access to a digital copy of our documents. I assume it isn’t enough to get through normally, but that it would help in one of those “I lost my wallet” situations?

I honestly, in my mind’s eye, saw documents inside a translucent pickle.

I know you didn’t come here for emotional support, but it’s a scary situation and I’m sorry you’re in the middle of it. It’s always the worst when we’re the ones who forget/mess up because we’re usually our hardest critics.

It sounds like procedures are in place for situations just like this and I hope you both have as easy of a time as you can, given the circumstances.

I’m having a moment’s panic here: my daughter will turn 18 on Friday, and we fly the next Friday.

She has a valid driver’s license.

She’s okay, right??

Yes, that is a government ID.

OK thanks. I figured as much but just had a freak out moment.

@ninjasherrie you’ve gotten some great advice here. I hope things go as smoothly as possible!! Good luck :four_leaf_clover:

Looks like you have got the answer, but I have had to do this and it was not that bad. Mine was a trip to Vegas and I got to the airport 90 minutes away only to realize I switched to a money clip from my wallet…yet left my ID in my wallet…ugh.

So they made me step out of the TSA line and wait in a middle “holding” area in the middle of several lines…finally after 20 minutes or so (could have been shorter…but felt like forever…an agent come up and get on the phone with “Washington”…who knows if it was, but whatever…they started asking me a bunch of random questions that makes you realize that the government knows way too much about you. After about 5 more minutes that let me go on my way.

Had my ID sent overnight to my hotel and all was good.

Hope it works out.

PSA on a related topic. Won’t work for while on vacation. But, if you find a DL you can drop it off as mail. No postage needed.
Wallets you’d have to take to the desk and they’ll box them up too.

When a friend lost her ID on a trip, they let her use her perscription medication as a verification of her identity. Sonadd that to the list of things that help het you through the gate.

How do they not have clear? Isn’t it everywhere. I bought it because I read it’s faster than tsa precheck. Now I need to go check if MCO has it…how can they charge more than TSA pre and not be at all major airports? Sigh

You were right. They are only at 40 airports. Thankfully MCO is one of them for me.

My daughter turned 18 the week before we flew. They would not accept any of the other documents we brought- the yellow paper they give you when you are waiting for your DL in the mail, Birth certificate, Credit card’s, student ID, etc. We were told she should have brought her old DL that had the hole punches through it. (Which was the only thing we didn’t bring, assuming it wouldn’t work since it was expired.) They just searched her bag and asked some questions, it worked out fine. *It was my daughters first time flying, so she was still a bit freaked out by it.

Very few airports have Clear. CLT doesn’t and it’s the 6th largest airport in the country. :woman_shrugging:

Delta has partial ownership of Clear and a lot of airlines have put pressure on their hub airports to block it.
American had blocked it at PHL, and I know CLT is another of their hubs, so probably the same situation.

How very consumer-focused of them. I love how they are always trying to make sure guests have the best possible experience.

Bastards.

I kinda get where the other airlines are coming from. If you are a delta cc holder you get steep discounts on a clear membership. Its deltas sneaky way to turn flyers to them and turn over desirable hub airports.

Except…it doesn’t really seem that sneaky!

(Now then…I have no idea what Clear is!)

It’s a program you sign up for that can expedite you through the ID part of TSA. They ID check you when you sign up. Then on your first trip they do a retinal scan and store it on file. Every trip after that, if Clear is available, you go to the kiosk, scan your eye, and they then escort you right up to the bag check/scanner area.

A LOT of people don’t know Delta has ownership interest in it. So it is still a little sneaky.
