Am considering going to DL this year instead of my WDW trip and wondering if there are any off site places that have an above average pool, maybe with a slide?
Any recommendations?

Howard Johnson’s looks pretty cool.
Yes, the Howard Johnson’s which is now a Marriott Courtyard has a fun pool. But you will want to compare pricing with the Courtyard with DLR’s Paradise Pier. One year we looked, and the price was about the same, so we went with PP. So I would compare because the cheapest hotel at DLR has way more amenities than the Courtyard. Though right now with travel so up in the air, you might be able to get some good deals.

There is actually a separate hotel near the Howard Johnson’s that is a Courtyard. And you’re right the pool at Courtyard is mediocre. The Howard Johnson (which I just saw is owned by Wyndham) is far more elaborate but still more for kids (splash pad, etc.). There’s a couple of medium sized slides that older kids might enjoy.
