Am I Disney deranged?

We had our “big” Disney vacation last year…but we had so much fun, we don’t want to go anywhere else. WDW here we come!

Did you walk across the stage when you got your Bachelor’s? I did and looking back, realized it was more for my family; it was agonizingly long. Maybe you could get a 2019 mortarboard Mickey hat and “walk across the stage” at WDW!

This sounds like the kind of accident my kids have when their fist “accidentally” meets their brother’s face.

Not to derail the post – on that, I say, DO IT! – but what did you use to find last-minute deals? (Clearly I have fallen all the way down the Disney rabbit hole, and I find my frozen self wishing I could pop down there to look at some palm trees and eat a MIckey bar…)

It was the Ultimate Disney Christmas. It was announced mid-October and only offered for one week (Dec 15-22). They had another one of these around Labor Day for fall that included the MNSSHP. I doubt the Christmas one will be offered in 2019 due to SWGE but I will book the Christmas one whenever they are available. Not sure about the fall offering as it’s still so hot in September.

The other big website had a daily podcast (now discontinued) - just 3-5 minutes of daily Disney news and I found out about it there. Not sure if there’s a deals thread here but if not we could start one for deals or offerings (if that’s permitted).

You are SO asking the wrong crowd!!

I just graduated with a degree in December and we went to WDW instead of walking across the stage. Although that trip wasn’t planned in less than 100 days, our prior trip was booked and planned in less than two months.

Yes, you’re crazy. Welcome to crazy land.

I did walk when I got my Bachelor’s and it was fine. It maybe felt like more of an accomplishment because at the time I was a single mom of two. I think it was meaningful to me then. I’ve worked hard for my Master’s, but the ceremony isn’t that big of a deal to me. When I think about attending a graduation ceremony vs. spending 6 days in Disney there is NO contest!

Excuse me? Are you saying these aren’t completely unbiased opinions?!?!

My husband wants to go other places, but I’m afraid I got hooked!

THIS!!! I’m going to have to set some serious limits. Last time I was like “Get whatever you want. YOLO!!!” and now I’m going to be like “your memories are your souvenirs”!

PS I apologize for the use of YOLO. I don’t know where that came from. :flushed:

Amiga, have you EVER seen anyone on this website say “I think you shouldn’t book another trip to WDW”???

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
I guess it’s like going to a casino and asking people what they think of gambling.

High school graduation is a very big deal; college graduation is a very big deal. Any graduations after that are not. I missed by master’s graduation and never once was sorry.
Do what you really want to do.

Yep. All the time. Most of my trips are planned less than 100 days out and we always have a great time.

Makes sense to me.

Yes - 11 days in advance because my DH had an opportunity to attend a conference in Orlando. Conference hotel was sold out so we HAD to stay in the bubble.
I was the hero because I was able to book the room, buy tickets, make ADRs and FPPs at a moments notice. Best thing about this forum, you are prepared to plan at a moments notice!

I didn’t attend my college graduation. I did attend my high school graduation, although it was compulsory, so there’s that. Anyhow, I remember my friends saying, “You should go, Ryan! One day you’ll regret it!”

I’m still waiting for that day to come.

(They said the same thing about me skipping my senior prom…but, I mean, I got paid double time for working that day, so there are no regrets. Of course, I didn’t/don’t care two hoots about dances, so…)

I skipped my Bachelor and Master’s graduations and couldn’t care less. I declined to be valedictorian for the latter (at the dean’s utter disbelief and frustration LOL) and never regretted it. I went to my doctor’s degree graduation and it was one of the most boring afternoons of my entire life. The pride in my parents’ eyes and their general excitement made it kinda worth it but it was still so so dull LOL

A Disney day is like a gazillion times better !!!
