AKL room request

Hi all, staying at AKL and was wondering if there is an area I should ask for. I booked Savannah view and would love to see giraffes. It’s really my only dream for the room. Is there a part of the hotel I should ask for?

Also if I’m with in the 30 days— will the fax still go out?

Thank you!

When I stayed at Kidani I literally put “I’d love to see giraffes from the balcony” as my only request, and they put us right next to a giraffe snack box – it was amazing. I hope you get something similar! And re: faxing, you can also send requests via the chat now - sometimes that works sometimes it doesn’t.

Also I love your username.

Yes, as long as you are 2 or more days out. They send the room request by about 7:30 a.m. the next day.

I think they’re done via email, not fax, nowadays.

Jambo overlooks Uzima, Arusha, and Sunset savannahs and I believe all of those have giraffes.

If you’re staying at Kidani, Sunset has giraffes but Pembe Savannah does not.

The food at AKL is my favorite of any of the hotels I’ve stayed at. You have great choices!

I’m excited to finally try the restaurants. Right now I have a Sanaa lunch, Boma dinner and a Boma Breakfast.

Just finished up my AKL stay! What a magical resort. I will stay here again.

We had a great room on the Kudu trail overlooking the Sunset Savannah. Saw giraffes zebras ostriches… all of the animals everyday. Their food was put out right by us!

As for the busses—. They are completely fine! We did not wait long and the rides were not long at all. MK the longest but maybe 15 minutes? Don’t let this deter you, it really is a non issue.

I loved the quick service. Opened at 6:30 for coffee! I love resort early mornings and this was one of the best.

If you have little kids, don’t miss the Simba Cubroom. They have free and pay for crafts. Different than the activity calendar ones. It is a great space to chill out.

Thanks for everyone’s advice!

So glad you enjoyed it so well! And that my statements about the bus held true

Do you know that in all the times I have stayed here I never noticed it was a Cubhouse? I heard a little child point that out to his mother on this last trip in February and I was like OMG I’ve been reading it as Clubhouse for over a decade!

Oh you were spot on! I don’t think the rides felt any longer than any other resort I’ve stayed at.

Haha and cub house is such a cute name!

I know a lot of people take issue with buses as transportation. They may not be as fun as the skyliner, monorail or boats but they really are not bad at all. In all my years taking them I can only think of 1 or 2 times when I felt like there was an issue with the buses. But sometimes things just happen.
