After Hours - Hollywood Studios Arrival Time

Hello! I’ve been poking through forums and trip reports and haven’t found a ton of information, so I thought I’d ask:

We’re planning on an after hours event in March/April at HS - it’s going to be our rest day, so we don’t have a day ticket, and are going to do some non park activities and relax a bit before hand. I know you can tap in at 7, but what do the AH lines typically look like at that point? Want to make sure we are getting as much of our moneys worth as we can :joy:

Is this a rope drop situation where we should arrive 60 minutes early, or is 15-20 minutes enough time to not stand in a huge line that will eat into our AH time? (or should we just show up 15-30 minutes after 7 to avoid the lines completely - this is a cost/benefit analysis I am willing to entertain haha)

I know I’ve seen reports and videos of it being a little bit of a mob scene at the MK turnstiles for the holiday parties, but assume it’s different for these events.

After Hours is nothing like MVMCP! I’m sure there are much fewer tickets sold for After Hours than MVMCP. Parts of the HS were like ghost towns during After Hours.

I couldn’t tell you what time to show up because I was on AP the one and only time I went to After Hours.

Not sure what you mean by this. Here’s my TR for AH at HS last June to give you an idea of what is possible and you can compare it to what you want to do. Every AH is different but I presume the crowd levels are very similar.

I would do AH at HS again! Enjoy all the rides, ice cream bars, drinks, and popcorn!

Thanks!! That’s good to know!

I think I was concerned that if we didn’t get there well before seven, we’d end waiting in a line for awhile after 7 to just get in, when we wanted to maximize the time we have in the parks but it sounds like that is not the case.

I am excited - the only after hours event I’ve done was a Wine & Dine party after the Half many years ago, and shockingly I was not up to trapesing around EPCOT until 1AM that night.

When we did this last summer we arrived around 6:45. There was a line to get your wristband, but nothing crazy long and it moved fairly quickly. I don’t remember exactly what time we made it in, but it wasn’t a big enough delay for me to note for what that’s worth.
