Ahh, ok…
This is the only forum I’ve ever been on, hence my confusion!
Understandable. Funny enough, I have a Disney wife in addition to my Disney boyfriend. She is my ex-husbands current wife, my absolute best friend, and she works security at the TTC!
My DBF gets a little bent out of shape about it sometimes, but I told him it’s non-negotiable!
Oh! The D stands for dear? Oops, I’ve been using it wrong all this time. Don’t tell my wife!
My DD19 and I really liked La Hacienda de Angel. We had an 8:30pm reservation on May 6th in hopes to view Illuminations from the windows. We tried to check in at 8, and was told to check back in 15 min. We checked in at 8:15 and was asked to seat in the cool indoor lobby. At about 8:25, our name was called but I didn’t like the table because it was backed into a small corner with no view. I kindly said we’d wait for better table and in less than 10 mins, we were seated at an elevated booth in the middle of the main dining room with a nice view for Illuminations. I’ll stress that this is a view through a window so if you haven’t seen Illuminations before and want a great location this isn’t one, but it was so nice to watch the show in AC drinking my marvelous avocado margarita.
We had a very late reservation at AKL Jiko (9:40pm). We made this late reservation because we are from the West Coast so it felt like 6:40, and we also wanted enough time to go back to the room to shower and dress up a bit. Jiko had a classy understand African motif that we liked. The menu was exotic but still mostly recognizable. We had the Taste of Africa appetizer which consisted of tasty dips and flatbreads. We split the delicious bison entree and the unusual Safari Sunset dessert. The wait staff was very attentive, and the place was quiet because we were among just a few diners given the late hour.
Mk’s Be Our Guest was a mixed bag for us. The only reservation I was able to get was for 9:40 pm. We loved The Beauty and The Beast theming but I thought the table settings were too generic. It would have been nice to have real tablecloths to mach the inflated dinner price. We requested The darker West Wing (with the rose under glass) but were unable to get a table there so we chose the large main dining room with the beautiful large windows and painted ceiling. If I went again I had sit in the room with the Music Box. It was smaller and I loved the green soft upholstery, wall paper, and art work. The service was a bit rushed until it quieted down, and our waiter seemed to relax. I had the lamb chops which I order often at my local restaurant and I thought it was quite good but the veggies on the side were just ok. My daughter had the filet mignon, and she loved it. The one choice dessert was cute but not very tasty. We took most of it back to our room but forgot about it once it was in the mini fridge. We ended the evening with the Beast meet greet and photo. He put made us laugh with his funny gestures.
Thank you for the detailed reply. My main worry is to not be rushed. We live in Spain so are used to long leisurely meals. If I get my main course within 30 minutes of finishing my starter I won´t be happy and am going to make clear at the time of ordering that, that we would like a long break. Do you think that will translate to the kitchen or do you think we would be better ordering one course at a time?
I never felt rushed but I’m American. My DD and I ordered drinks and an appetizer first then ordered the main course later.
I would definitely order courses separately because the food is prepared quite quickly.
Ok, great idea, will try that.
Thanks again
Yes definitely order separately if you want a slower pace. 30 minutes between starter and main course would be an infinitely long time for an American restaurant, especially the mid-scale casual places full of children that most Disney restaurants are.
