A result of the decrease in magic

Yes, ma’am.
Cruella wasn’t really a good fit for me, though I loved the movie.
Jessie’s a better fit.

You’re on point there. :sports_medal:

I can see that.
We typically drive and we have only recently done on-site.
I would just be happy with them taking the purchases to a pick up location. Dollywood does this.

A life guard during surfing lessons in 2006.
He was miffed about the efficiency experts Disney had hired. Those guys were the driving force behind his transferring to life guard from being a character. Tigger, even.
The efficiency experts knew all about being in a character suit (NOT), especially subsequent shifts during a warm day in Florida.

The life guard was also sad that CMs couldn’t dispense a much magical stuff as they had been able to do. He was still glad to work for Disney tho.

I never got to experience the Magical Express because it had been replaced with Mears by the time we started using it. But, honestly, Mears Connect is effectively Magical Express. We just pay $16/pp each way for it. Now…the part that isn’t there is the luggage handling….so when people say they miss ME, do they just mean the luggage aspect of it? (I think we’d ALL love it if Disney stopped trying to charge for things…but that’s a separate issue, really.)

This is something I miss the most actually. I don’t like the app. But I use BG1. And I use the app for very little otherwise. Maybe mobile ordering.

This whole thing makes me cringe. I once had a boss focused on steps. The lost step of turning left vs right. And how much more productive people can be.

I think it’s the whole feel. Mears Connect is fine. But it’s not Disney. And it’s not Disney ME. I used it a very long time ago. But I remember that it felt like my vacation when I turned over my luggage. Now it starts when I get my self checked into the hotel and deal with my luggage. There’s also the sense of a loss of something that used to be included.

I’m sorry sir, but I must disagree. w/ ME I got luggage tags in the mail that tracked them. ONce I dropped them off when I checked into my flight to MCO, I didn’t see them again until they magically appeared in my room, then when I got to the MCO airport we just walked to the ME queue, checked in, got on the assigned bus to our resort.

Now I see young families schlepping their luggage, trying to corral their little ones at the same time and think…. oh Chapek… you jerk  The magic used to start w/ an envelope of fabulous yellow tags w/ my name and resort listed. Now… it’s yuck… travel day is yuckier when it used to be more magical

It is an interesting take. Like, the first time we ever stayed on property, it was in 1995. There was no such thing as Magical Express. We had a Mears shuttle that was booked as part of our vacation by our T.A. Next time we stayed on property, in 2020…there was no ME, and we had Mears. So…I never felt like anything was lost, and actually it felt very vacationy. BUT, I can see how the luggage aspect of things would be a nice addition.

So…it really does come down to the luggage. So…if Mears Connect could provide an add-on to do baggage handling, even though you’re paying for it, would it help you feel the magic?

I’ve come to peace with the fact that Disney is going to keep trying to raise revenue however they can. It is the nature of the beast. But, like I said…ME wasn’t a thing at Disney until 2005. Which means in the 52 years of WDW’s existence, it only had ME for 15 years total.

I don’t know that I would have the same confidence level as I would with Disney handling it. But, it would be a very nice option. How would Disney feel about Mears checking in the luggage? And how would Disney feel about the increased work of delivering luggage to the room?
I also haven’t used it but once. But I know many people, especially with young kids, that LOVED it. It made the trip so much easier. And Disney has taken the ease out of it for many families.

This could be a difficulty

For some reason, nowadays Disney bell staff will not bring our luggage unless we’re in the room to receive it.

I can see this. In fact, I think this ties also to the example of delivering items to your room when you buy them in the park. This is adding value DIRECTLY for the consumer, so eliminating it…while saving Disney money, is definitely perceived as a loss. It would be nice if Disney brought this back, even if they charged a nominal fee for the service.

those were more magical years :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It depends… will I get special Disney tags in the mail like I used to? Will my luggage magically appear in my resort room, like they used to? Will there be a Disney theme bus w/ Disney themed music and films playing on screens like before?

Plus, the cost of Disney has gone up but the perks have been reduced…. the magic has turned to greed…. just my observation, they keep charging for things that used to be included… it’s sad.

It was

My cousin was impressed with how well done it was.

My comment was that nowadays one might have to call down to bell services to have their luggage brought.

I don’t LIKE paying more…but, honestly, I don’t think Disney is in any way wrong for doing this. I’ve been MORE bothered by the lack of re-investment into the parks, where the higher prices and extra costs were being used to prop up the losses from the movie making side of things. That is starting to turn around, though. I suspect Disney has heard the people and is making steps to change this.

ppl spend less money in the park because they know they have to Shlep it around all day…. hahahaha Disney has made the word shlep a thing

This is true for me. But also, I buy less. If I have to carry it around I’m not buying all day. I’d even be good with a park exit pick up location.
