50th anniversary dessert party?

Hi all,

We (4 adults 2 kids 4&6) are heading to Disney Jan 29-Feb 5. We will be at Magic kingdom for my mom’s birthday and I am wondering if anyone here has done the new fireworks dessert party and if you thought it was worth the money? I’m considering it, but also considering just getting our own treats and staking out a spot early. We did the second option for Happily ever after 2 years ago, which worked out okay, but with the new show I’m worried we will need to snag a spot super early. Any insight from those of you have been?

Thanks!

If you’re willing to spend the time waiting for a good spot I would definitely just do that vs the party. The value just isn’t there unless you’re trying to maximize every minute and not wait a long time for a decent view.

Agreed. I did the After Party in October. It’s more expensive, far more crowded and much worse value than it used to be before COVID / Chapek.

The view from the Plaza Gardens spot is great, I’ll admit. The Tomorrowland Terrace spot is less good, but you get to sit down and, if you do it right, you’ll have no-one in front of you. But you also separate the fireworks from the projections. Though you get Tinkerbell coming straight at you. (Allegedly. She didn’t fly the one time I did the TT version.)

Six tickets is many money. Many.

I went just a couple of weeks ago and we all loved it.

That being said, I was second in line an hour before entry on @LTinNC82 and @vcka ‘s recommendation and we had great seats. It was super pricey for what was available. The table/seats/lack of someone standing on my toes was well worth it imo though.

I was less than thrilled with the dessert selection but content with the drink selections. Both with and without alcohol.

I will be on a solo trip in a few weeks and opted for the dessert after party to reduce the crowd levels around me.

My expectations are low for the dessert choices, and I don’t like the taste of alcohol.

Pricey, but makes me feel a bit safer with fewer people.

They still have plenty of chocolate covered strawberries so that’s something to look forward to.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. Not having to fight for a viewing spot was the biggest draw, but between the adults we should all be able to entertain the kids and take them to pick out snacks while we wait.

that chocolate tastes like wax to me.

Yeah it’s definitely more like candy melts than melted chocolate, but the strawberries are just too delicious to pass up.

Simply said: Dessert stinks, however the viewing spot is priceless! I will 100% for sure do it again. We were escorted to our spot at 7:45 and it was great!

These are a crime against humanity. A strawberry no more needs to be dipped in chocolate than a fish needs a bicycle.

I’m not really worried about the needs of the strawberries

And that right there is everything that’s wrong with the world.
