Gaylord National ICE

Doing ICE at the Gaylord National this year. Worth doing / not? What are other suggestions to do in DC area in the winter - we have been several times to the area - curious if there is anything out of the ordinary that people would suggest

ICE is enjoyed by kids, for sure. It’s expensive but you might get lucky with groupons. Every year, it seems, there are groupons offered. Whether it’s “worth” doing or not is too subjective to answer. Most people I know would say it’s not “worth” it but then again, we are locals and can go see it every year so we might be jaded.
If you do go though, the National Harbor (where the Gaylord and ICE are located), now hosts a huge Ferris Wheel and an endless number of restaurants in the pedestrian- and child-friendly surrounding streets. And just up the street (walking distance, for most) is the new MGM Resort and Casino. Great place to grab a bite to eat and wander around. Beautiful outdoor patios that look out to the Potomac River and across to Virginia.

For off the beaten path idea… The Mansion on O Street is a great stop, and highly recommended for inexpensive entertainment for adults and children alike - especially those that are curious and enjoy “sleuthing”. Perfect place to spend a rainy or cold day! It’s located in Dupont Circle.
